'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Post Stoke Defeat Reactions - MacDonald/Petrov +

Dan Harrison from the Official Site spoke with caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald after the Stoke defeat - still can't believe we were cheated out of a draw by Pennant - who said:

'I'm very disappointed, obviously. But you know that happens. I am disappointed - and we felt but we only saw it quickly - that it might not have been a free-kick and if it was it should have been a little bit further back. But that happens in football. The decision was given and we lost a football match. I thought we actually played quite well but you know when you come to Stoke how difficult it is going to be.'

He also admits Villa missed too many chances and Stoke got their bit of luck in the end.

Stiliyan Petrov, on AVTV - Watch the interview here said the dressing room were hurting and 'I didn't think we deserved that. But at the end of the day it us up to us players to make sure we see the game through. We defended very well, we were well organised, we played some good stuff and we scored a great goal to give us the lead. We looked comfortable and they were just playing long balls. They were making us work hard but that's exactly what we were doing - working hard.'

And added ..... 'We played well but we need to be more clinical.'

Seems to be the mantra for Villa for about the last 5 or more years... lets hope Houllier can bring about the changes needed and bring in a natural goalscorer as well!

Andy Blair said it was 'incomprehensible' that Villa could play so well at Stoke and still go away from the game empty-handed. www.avfc.co.uk

Albarnista - difference from West Ham...James Milner..that's why Citeh paid so much for him...Also West Ham are s***e. There were a lot of positives IMO last night, but not the one that really matters, the result! I thought Gabby's hold up play was very good, two super crosses and very good lay off to NRC which nearly got us the winner just before the 'Pennant dive'. Downing looked quality on the ball, Ashley is class (expect for his heading) and Allbrighton is a star of the future. We need Houllier in NOW and stability at management level.
