revua: My Welcome To Gerard Houllier .. I'm sure you will get a big welcome from all Villa fans, even ones like me that would have preferred someone younger to be in charge. You have said the right things so far, it was nice to hear 'Aston Villa is one of England's Biggest clubs and has an amazing set of fans'. This is defiantly going to help your cause but then you will know this. I also take confidence it that you must still have the desire to take on this job at your age and maybe you feel you have a point to prove.... Full article: One Villa Fans Welcome To Gerard Houllier
Ashley Young is said to be ready to sign a new deal at Aston Villa. Ashley Young Ready For New Villa Contract
Niblot1 asked in our forum are you England in disguise?! In my 20 or so years of watching the Villa and following them religiously the similarities between us as a club and England as a nation is becoming increasingly more prominent. The fans that turn up at both Wembley and Villa Park have an expectation. They turn up, pay their money and want something back in return, they want to win every game and they want to be entertained along the way and this I see is a problem. Going to be interesting who will be in Gerard Houlliers coaching staff and who will be his number two. Phil Thompson has turned down the role for family reasons. Kevin MacDonald wants to return to his reserves role. The other name being linked was Patrice Bergues who was with Houllier at Liverpool and Lyon. However, Houllier has confirmed he won't be coming either. Full article: Patrice Bergues Not Villa Bound
Is it true Phil Thompson hates Villa? Well, it must be because when it was suggested he was on his way to Villa some threw hissy fits all over the place ! However I've just had a text from Vital Villa user HH2 saying he was fantastic on Soccer Saturday about Aston Villa AND our new manager Gerrard Houllier. In a nutshell the pundit said: Thompson On Villa - 'Fantastic Club'

Ok, as per usual, following a press conference, (more from us later on quotes etc I'm sure) some are picking on tiny negative points as a way to worry instead of the majority of comments from our new manager which appeared to me anyway, to be nothing but positive. Fieldy: Gerard Houllier has said today in his press conference that Kevin MacDonald has declined the opportunity to work within his first team coaching staff. Instead of our reserve managing wonder will be happily going back to his former job once his stint as caretaker manager is over, laying to rest all concerns of him leaving the club following the appointment of the new man. MacDonald will still be charge for the Stoke clash on Monday whilst Hoooolier dots the eyes and crosses the tees of his resignation from the FFF. Depending on how those resignation negotiations go Hooooolies will definitely be at Villa Park for the Bolton game, and will be aiming to take up the reigns for the visit of Blackburn. Fieldy: All in all it was the press conference you'd expect, no over the top talk about Chumpions League, in many ways designed to manage our expectations again but what couldn't be hidden was the fact that Gerard Houllier is enthused, interested, excited and determined to succeed here. Not overnight, he was clear about that, but year on year improvement is the order of the day and given this well may be his last 'big' managerial role of his career, he certainly doesn't want to go out with a whimper.
