Transfer Window - There It Was Gone!

So there you have it.

The transfer window is closed. We only got through two transfer threads on the front page because of the lack of action and obviously the turmoil of the manager leaving.

Only signing in was Stephen Ireland + bundles of dosh with James Milner going the other way.

Who have we missed? Not sure much of note happened but nevertheless, like everyone, I'd have loved to see someone, anyone...!?!.... arrive. Hey ho, is it too early to start the January transfer window thread?!

And there you have it. The worst transfer window all round ever?!

So the links.. not really worth me striking out all those that were wrong because I think a few, including Robbie Keane, might have proved correct if MON had stayed.... if that makes sense?! The departure obviously changed our transfer window dramatically.

Proving ?

Yup, correct, I need to get out more!

The intention was to assess the links, see who we did and didn't get. The manager departure did really affect the press links though, so would be unfair to rip into them! I do think some were based on what they thought MON would go for. Hey ho. See you in January! lol
The Fear
not a good one, only thing that I'm sort of happy with is I can't see many great signings anywhere. Funny, I was told by someone 'in' the game at the start of the window he thought there would be very little action all round and he was proven right.
The Fear
Well lets not build our hopes up for January, for as we all know, very little telling business is ever conducted at the turn of the year, plus our finances are hardly going to be in better shape a mere four/five months down the road. What applied this summer, will surely apply then? Very sad to lose James Milner, coming on top of the Gareth Barry departure during the summer of 2009, it was a bitter pill to swallow, and who knows that we wont be relieved of our next 'best player' come the summer of 2011. Oh well, nothing to be achieved in looking back. We were informed back in May that cash would be in short supply for the duration of this latest transfer window, and that we'd have to ship out before we could lure in, and Lerner was very definitely true to his word. Circumstances dictated, and while frustrating, few could deny that the policy introduced by the board was indeed the correct route to take. In any walk of life, you cant spend what you simply haven't got, or if you do, you'll very soon be travelling that road to ruin. What this club needs is additional investment. Its not a dirty word, so I'm not sure why some supporters get all upset about it, and view it as a slur on my behalf against the current owner. Its nothing of the sort, its absolute common sense of the highest order, and you can bet that the thought isn't all that distant from Lerner's thoughts either. Its the way forward.
glensider
Agreed was a poor transfer window. Would have loved to see hleb and Gyan at the club, the only thing i dont hope for now is that KMac gets the job, would be alot of angry villa fans and speculation about timing etc.

I didnt feel we where missing out on anyone this transfer window, until I saw Van Der Vaart linking up with Spurs.
mattyh1986
True to his word! Please, stop keep hanging on every word this guy says, he's not the messiah, he's a business man, and so wants to make money, he was never gonna put any money down to spend in this window, how many people on this site said MON left because there would be no funds in place for new players, even after the sale of that money grabbing ****, and he threw his rattle out the pram? Now you're saying if he'd stayed we would have new players in, so because he's not here now, he's ruined the transfer market! Jesus make your ******** minds up please!!!
eltoro
Awful window when you consider Huntelaar has gone to Schalke! January better be a better window or I will seriously doubt the owners intentions.
koolbill
I can not knock Randy for the money that he has spent so far and still believe we are not spending at the moment because the north stand needs rebuilding. The most important signing will be the manager as i believe we have a decent team, I'm 50/50 on Kmac,on one hand he might give the young lads a chance but then the teams he picked for the Newcastle game and Rapid at home wasn't the best tactically, The Newcastle game Ireland should have not started as surely he can not be match fit yet,and the Rapid game I would have started Gabby up front on his own and had five in the midfield to make it harder for them to get the away goal. A top manager who is proven and we could be the arsenal of the midlands, but of cause with out the fart sniffing fans!!
chris the villan
Chris he did give the kids a chance and that's why we are out of Europe along with playing 4 centre backs in the home leg...CLUELESS is what i would call some of his decisions to date. We have 1 left back & he rested him 3 games into the Season????????
Reo-Coker is crap
I cant believe Kleb has gone to small heath - one player we could have used for sure
Mat777
your wrong on kevin-prince boateng because he went to ac Milan on a season long loan
Avfc94 we do
eltoro - agreed, a good loyal servant but I agree, time for a change, we need more guile.
