Big Mac Wants To Be Considered - Official

Official Site confirmation... Kevin MacDonald has decided he DOES want to be considered for the Villa job.

Sorry, it took how long to come to that conclusion? Bit confused?!

Hey ho. Our poll asks if you think Big Mac is the man for the job.

There are no quotes from Kevin Macdonald re: wanting the job but obviously, that will be the case now it is on the official site.

Interviews should be taking place this week. Hopefully we'll get the right man and can all re-focus on the season ahead!?

If Kevin MacDonald does now get the job, the conspiracy theorists will be pointing figures. The accusations I've read on our and other forums is that if he is to be the manager, they could have appointed him weeks back and brought in players.

My feeling - despite some reports saying he is firm favourite - is that he won't get the role. I could be totally wide of the mark.

The reasons I think this is

a) it took him so long (?) to decide himself
b) he would leave a massive gap reserves/youth level
c) the statement from the club say they are looking for Premiership experience
d) there is no d but just three options looked a little on the short side.

Oh, I don't believe the conspiracy theory by the way, think the club have done the right thing in not rush appointing, they have to look at all options and come to the right conclusion, this is the biggest decision they have had to make since coming in. A lot of pressure. Much like when John Gregory was appointed (big names were about at the time) I would be disappointed now to see Big Mac get the nod, however much like JG, I'm sure he'd be supported if it was the conclusion they came to. Great coaches don't always make great managers though do they?

Realistically we cannot appoint Kmac. We are a big club trying to compete at the highest level with the worlds most experienced managers and tacticians. As much as i like the guy he has proved his inexperience with the newc, vienna and everton (come on we barely got out of our half) games. Yes he will learn but too slowly for a club who have been pushing forth, and even then he may turn out to be the wrong man. Experience and a signal of intent from the club please.

Would just go against what lerner and faulkner have both said wouldnt it about premiership experience? I would prefer to see him in a coaching role or even as an assistant manager and the players can still have that relationship they want with him. Do not want alladyce and his boring football though.
