Now for the fun! Alan Nixon in The Mirror has an 'exclusive' on David Moyes. Not convinced it is exclusive really but hey, that doesn't really matter! It was all over the web last night and text's were going mad that Ladbrokes had suspended better on the Everton boss being announced as Villa's next manager. Apparently the odds dropped with some bookies from 33-1 to 3-1.
Remember, no matter what they say, hasn't he already ruled himself out? David Moyes Rules Himself Out Of Villa Job saying: 'I'm loyal to Everton, I've always said that. It's a really good club. This year we've got a really good chance and this is where I'll be this season.'
Anyway, the report... it says Moyes is tempted with the Villa job because he has taken Everton as far as he can with a 'shoestring budget'. Alan Nixon goes on to say And while Everton deny they have had an official approach, insiders at Villa reveal that Moyes is openly being discussed by senior staff and players as their No.1 choice.
Wonder what triggered the run of bets? Remember bookies suspended betting on Sven when he was seen in Birmingham and they chose Bob Bradley the USA international coach as their favourite despite the fact he was never going to be an option. So I'm not sure I'd read too much into it. Would be nice though!
The Mirror say that there could be interest in Blackburn's Sam Allardyce as well. Wouldn't surprise me if Big Sam was interested, he is Midlands born (Dudley lad) and would surely fancy the top job?
The Daily Telegraph reckon that Villa have 'sounded out' Blues boss (who they call 'unsettled') Alex McLeish as well as Sunderland manager Steve Bruce.
The Times say that Villa want Fulham and former Manchester City manager Mark Hughes.
I was told in the rumour mill maelstrom the other day that some current Premiership managers have enquired. Who I have no idea, so fat lot of good that information is really!

Wouldn't surprise me if someone came in from long odds to be the manager, it happened when they appointed David O'Dearme all those years back. From 40-1 or more to suspended betting and an appointment!

What a limp selection...apart from Moyes. Why do we have to have Prem experience? It's ridiculous...we'll just end up with a boring old sod like allardyce. Did Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez etc have Prem experience before they arrived? No, and probably all the better for it, so they could look at things with fresh eyes. Klinsmann all day long please.

olof there playing it safe at this moment in time which is the right thing to do. You have to also think that we might not be able to attract a top name manager such as klinsman, because most these good managers need money to work on and they will be arriving at villa not being able to spend anything due to the transfer window being closed. Moyes or Hughes would be my first two choices, Id like to say Jol but the only chance of us getting him would be for luis suarez to leave ajax as it would pee him off. Hughes already settled and ready for the season at fulham so we can rule him out and Moyes i just cant see him wanting the switch. Id put my money on Kmac, Sven or Houllier :/

Mirror is utter garbage. For an english newspaper they are sure as S**t is brown that they're rubbish at spelling and using correct grammar. Something I'm told journalists have to be pretty good at.

I would still like Kevin Macdonald to be given the job. I hope the Newcastle 6-0 loss is not held against him as it was just one of those days when we had no luck and they had plenty. Yes we played badly as well but In comparison I watched the Spurs and Wigan game and Wigan had 5 or 6 clear scoring opportunity's and on another day they would have beating spurs by that score line away from home. This was a team that lost 4-0 and 6-0 in previous games. Also look at money bags Man City losing against Sunderland. We went out in Europe but this was no worse than other years and with our squad it may be a blessing in disguise. I also do wonder if some players actually want to be in Europe? Maybe they don't want the extra games and time away from there family? A few players feeling like that and you have not got a chance of winning. I would take a 6-0 loss every three games if we win the other two games in the Premiership.
Yes we had to hold on against Everton but this was no different than many games under O'Neil. Lets not forget we are playing with the same players that O'Neil assembled so we cant expect the world. There are too many players that are not comfortable on the ball and can not pass it simply. No manager is perfect and the other side always looks greener but I know there are plenty of Everton fans that realise Moyes is not all he is cracked up to be and makes the same mistakes we complained about O'Neil. He is still a good manager but not as good as some may think. Just look at there start! would you prefer to be sitting in the relegation with Moyes as manager or sitting fourth with Macdonald? I know which I would choose every time.
I say give Macdonald the job today and go and get a goal scorer and defensive midfielder. Its a shame we missed out on Huntelaar.

_villa_ how are we gonna get Koeman or Klinsmann. Hasn't anyone listened to the released statement from faulkner we will appoint a manager with premiership experience so that rules out bradley,klinsmann,hitzfeld and koemann! Its pretty clear what sort of manager we will get, It will be a man who is already in the job.
