Enough Knee Jerk Reactions Please!!! Parts 1 & 2

mauvaisgarcon has had his say... in two parts... but hey, I've merged them... boo me!

Enough knee jerk reaction please!!! Part 1 of 2

This is, potentially, my first & last article. You see I've never actually written one before. I've read plenty and made the odd comment but how do I know if I'm actually good enough to be published?

In the big time. On Vital Aston Villa no less!

I believe I've got the required skills. Can discuss topics sensibly and often see things others miss (except spelling & punctuation of course). I'm calm under pressure, understand the concepts and have plenty of experience using these skills in a similar way. But having never done it... How do I know?

Can you see where I'm going with this?

Kmac (formerly Super Kev) was royally dropped in it. He never asked for this. But was trust onto the stage and told 'you'll be fine'... Now I don't know Kmac, Randy Lerner or any of the players. I have no real idea why Martin O'Neill went... or even if any villa player still uses a webcam.

But what I do know is what I think of them in their professional roles. As footballers, coaches and management at Villa Park.

'Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes' my granddad used to say. Which is very true, but this is football and I have watched my team's players run 1000's of miles over the years... So I will pass judgement. It is my right as a fan, follower and lover of Aston Villa FC to do so.

Mon left us because it suited him. He is a very intelligent man, someone who 'ponders' and looks at every angle. I can see him being the next Man City manager in the near future. He did a fantastic job at Villa. The successive 6th place finishes, two trips to Wembley... European competitive football. His stock is still very high everywhere except VP. He has now joined the unfaithful ex-wife\girlfriend club. Once loved but now shunned. He can now list himself alongside the likes of Barry & Yorke. As Ex's lost.

So f*** ***. *** ***** and *** you *****! I think that says it for most of us. But that's just emotion talking.

Time heals old wounds.

Which brings us on the Kmac era. Kmac, I believe, likes his teams to play FOOTBALL. Now I know that's quite an alien concept at VP. I once heard that David O'Leary used to have hoofing practice with his 'honest bunch of lads' which went down that well that MON kept it up... except for Beye who wasn't allowed to take part in those sessions, he had keepy-uppy practice at the same time?? But I have to say that under Kmac we have played some, dare I say it, breathtakingly exciting football. We were absolutely brilliant against West ham. Which was only 13 days ago. We then got a very good draw at Rapid with kids (which is more than the ex managed there). Then came Newcastle. End of part 1

And straight to part two by the magic of .... errr, well, the site editor really!

Enough knee jerk reaction please!!! Part 2 of 2

What the **** happened there?

We missed a pen to go 1-0. Note to Villa players here: Can you PRACTICE your pens please. The toon got a lucky goal, was Brad unsighted??? Then we had a perfectly good equaliser disallowed. Then they got 2 more. Then a 4th & two in the last mins. I still look back and can't believe that. Kmac (formerly Super Kev) tried to play football against a group of lucky cloggers... even though I do really rate Carroll, but he'll be bought by ManC reserves in Jan (probably) so enjoy it while it lasts toon army. Oh yeh and thanks for Milner we made loads on him. :-) lol. ha ha ha ha!!!! and we relegated them plus removed their own Super Kev. So they beat us 6-0. Who got the better deal in p*** taking rights?

So to last nights crushing defeat. KM (formerly known as Kmac) has now totally destroyed our club! He doesn't know what he's doing! He has no experience! He used to be a scouser for goodness sake!

Why was he even allowed near VP! - Or am I mis-reading and media spinning (lying to you & me) some others posts?

The truth is Super Kev has done a fantastic job with the foundations of the future of Aston Villa. We all know that. He has given the youth a chance. Given us exciting, even though losing, football. Over the last couple of weeks. Maybe the job is too big for him. But some of our comments have been totally disgusting and driven by 'TalkAdvert' style radio phone in losers, 'knee jerk' reactions to the last two games. ffs!

Give him a break.

He's down on back room staff, given a new toy in 'Ireland' and told to play with him (probably). Has an injured Gabby - who looked awesome! A Carew that's forgotten how to play! A national joke in Heskey (which I think is totally unfair but that's for another time) No collins\dunne partnership etc...

Aston Villa is bigger than ALL of us. It will be here long after RL, us and the Ex have all popped our clogs. I think the growing problem at VP is us.

I'm as disappointed as any of us with the last few days and I'm worried about the visit of Everton. But knowing football we'll beat them 5-0 and everything will be rosy again. KM will then be backed by the 'knee jerk' reaction brigade. And so it goes on...

Or worse he'll change tactics and grind out a 0-0. What we should be asking is what do we really want? Are we ever going to create an atmosphere at VP? Are we going to raise the team's spirits when they need it? Personally I want entertaining football. I also want a team and a club aiming to challenge on 4 fronts each year. Football is now all about money according to the media. Not 11 blokes kicking a ball about. No. It's about money (say the Sun readers).

But its not. It's about memorable nights like tonight. Wembley trips and excitement. Yes we lost. But it wasn't a boring 1-0 defeat (which I have seen far too much of over the years). We had plenty of chances, missed a pen and failed to be awarded another. Heskey even scored (which is about as rare as a playboy footballer having a threesome with a mother & daughter)... But then you can't 'manage' mistakes by players. KM took chances and got us PLAYING football, obviously not defending, but you get my point. Hopefully. All I ask is that we all start loving, with kindness and understanding, our beautiful club and its current representatives.

Aston Villa FC. We should sing & chant our way back into contention. Playing football (and not being afraid to do so), with passion and flair. Plus restoring the hoofing practice session just for HB's benefit.

UTV.

Absolutely, completely and utterly agree with every word! I'm fed up of hearing about how we are going to get relegated now MON has left. The last few weeks have taught me that some Villa fans will never be happy - we could win the champions league, prem and FA cup and i'm sure someone would whinge about not winning the league cup! Lol. If life was meant to be stress free I would have been born in Brazil, and support Man Utd! But I love Villa wouldn't have it any other way. UTV!

All this "Get Behind Kev Mac" its *****ing me off, the hasnt even backed himself!!!! He doesnt want management, if he wanted it he would have put himself in positions to make it happen! We need a motivator, a tactisian and mostly a leader! somebody who will wake up after a 6-0 thump and say "Right lets fix this" not somebody who will say "hmm not sure if im up for the job" ... Its *****ing me off the way every things Kev Mac is the answer and shold be given a chance. If Kev comes out and says "Matt, I am the man for this, this is what ive been waiting for, lets do this , I have some great ideas" then wow yes I'll say "Go Super Kev , show us what you got" . I dont wanna hear "I havent decided yet" because he is delaying us bringing in a replacement! ARGH!!! No knee Jerk, I said after Hammers game.... Kev Mav isnt right for the job, until he says he is right for the job.

I was encouraged by certain things in the 6 - 0 defeat at Newcastle! I still think KM might be the man. We don't know - but he might b a quick learner. Yes, he loused it up good and proper with his defensive selection last night for an absolutely crucial game for our "squad". I am not saying he is the man - just that he might be. I agree with this article. One good game against Everton, and take it from there - but equally, a lousy and inept performance, and a stupid selection of unfit or "can't do it " players and he's not going to be our manager thgen. Fingers crossed for a turnaround in fortunes on Sunday. But please whatever happens don't get on KM's back (or Randy Lerner's back, fir that matter). He is a good and highly successful and respected key member of Villa's staff. If he is not the answer, he certainly is not the problem. May he reign long and successfully at Villa Park in whichever role he takes in the future.

I honestly cant understand why people think Kmac, who obviously has Villas best interest at heart, would jeopardize the future of Aston Villa FC by delaying his decision. What has his job been since he has been at Villa? To develop the future of the club....thats was his JOB! It would be crazy to think that he would cause the club harm, he knows whats going on, he isnt ******** anything up people, its his club too, he wont hurt it
All Hail MON
Im not saying he is intentionally doing harm, but by refusing to Rule himself out he is removing a sense of urgency from the board.
mattyh1986
He's sitting on the fence simply because if he says he wants the job and then he doesn't get it, another manager isn't going to tolerate a member of staff who's after knocking him off the top. He's not saying he doesn't want it, siomply because he does.

I'm afraid we're not in the business of giving guys a break. Maybe we should be, but we're not. This is football big business style, the year 2010. We're the sixth best team in the country, we have been for the past three campaigns. I want to at least remain there, I'm enjoying the good times. We're respected again, arguably for the first time since the golden years of the early eighties. We should be pushing on, building on the MON years, but we're not. Typical AVFC style we decide to shoot ourselves in the foot, and the prospects of us returning back to square one, suddenly become a distinct possibility. KevMac might be the nicest gut since Santa Claus, but premiership quality manager he is not. Get it sorted Lerner/Faulkner, before this hiccup becomes a slide. Good article though. Well written and interesting read.

What is the Aston Villa way of playing? What are we known for? Long ball? Kick and Rush? Pass and Move? Counter Attack? We are known as a team who is always nearly there...the Nearlymen. Let's accept our path. Let's accept that we will never be more than the Nearlymen. I accept any position in the Barclays Premier League, just as long is it's not the bottom three. Let's face it the top 4 is sewed up, there is no way we will ever finish there. 5th is our title.
PiperUK
Let's face it. We are completely and utterly in the *****E!

Just another point i want to make,. ok Mr Lener bought our beloved club for 64million (approx) ok he has invested in total i have looked up 170million, so that makes a total of 230/240million in 4 years or so,. well if you look at clubs that have been sold and bought wolves cost similar to us? west ham more? spurs, liverpool 500million valuation et etc,. Ok so heres my point, what Mr Lerner has paid out for Villa in the 1st plaice was a steal ! all his investmen doesnt come to the price of some of the lower clubs being sold! so if you think about it its pretty damn cheaky saying we need to tighten the purse strings, this reminds me of the Deadly Doug years again., if we have see Mr lerners spending spree then please sell us to someone who doesnt just buuy the club cheap and spend the equivalant as to buiying a west ham or fulham etc we need a proper serious investor to take us where our GREAT history belongs,. we aint no little small time charlie club, we have a REAL history but know we need a brighter future sorry Mr Lerner i dont think you are gonna give us the finances to push upwards. whats the point in accepting mid table or a relegation scrap every other season, cos if you dont spend Mr Lerner thats what happands seen it before !
ClivetheVillan
By the way i felt bad writing my comment above about Mr Lerner he has kept quiet and not interfered too much but sometimes honesty and facts have to be stated!,. Im sure Mr Lerner could sell up to a sugar daddy and make a few million, and all he would have to do is make sure he sells to correct investor who has real money to challange these frail man u's and arsenals, we can be up there with the best if Mr Lerner sells to a billionaire who is seious about being the best, cmon guys we deserve it, our club deseves it our history deserves it, not like chelski, Citeh buying there hitorys overnight, this has to stop,. We are accepting being a smaller club we Deserve the best i want a real investor in i thought Mr Lerner was it not no more ! Lerner Out
ClivetheVillan
ClivetheVillan, are you mad? Lerner has got us where we are today! Without his investment and MON (have to give him credit)'s guidance we would be nothing. To say Lerner out shows complete disrespect to our owner. Lets face facts, MON had 120mill over a few years, i believe with that money Redknapp, and a few others could have got us up there, challenging. It may have been to the sacrifice of some our young stars tho. To be perfectly honest, i dont want to buy the title like these other teams, when we win we win with honest, hard work. Finally, what happens when Man Citys owner gets bored, sells up and their next chairman is left with a ridiculous wage bill, crippling the club. Im happy to support a team that stands by their honour and tradition, as long as our owner, our manager and our players give 110% week in week out year after year. That is what makes me proud to be a Villan!
AndyFC
Clive, strewth! Randy has the cash but the club hasn't. What's wrong with him coming out and saying that the club has to be self sufficient regarding the wage bill? Sounds like good business sense to me. Or maybe football follows different rules to the rest of the business world. I despair.
Rawlie
Id rather Villa make money than lose it. There is no way City have or will make a profit over the next few years with the amount they have spent, so in the short term might make them win a few things, but they wont be sustainable. Villa will live on longer than you or i, with silly spending like that, there may not be much of a club left in 10years. As for Randy waiting till the window closes, i dont believe that is his motive at all. It seems that the money was there for MON to spend, but the with our wage structure he needed to get rid of the benchwarmers to free up some wage budget. I think, and ive posted this before on this board, if i was Randy Lerner i would rather get the appointment of manager right and suffer a few weeks, than pick any old manager and risk us suffering for a season. With every1 fit and organised, we have a good enough squad to last till the January transfer window, so new arrivals could be put off until then if needs be. The only time i will consider criticising Randy Lerner is if the manager he appoints is not supported by him in the window like O'neill was when he first took over.
AndyFC
AndyFC i respect your opinion m8, i just am sck to death of seeing milner in a city shirt or barry, or young in a spurs if that or when that happends, citeh will be fine cos that silky little sheikh is paying out of his own pocket not like randy is doing running the club to pay for it, thats why we owe him 40/50million look up the financial info he wants his money back i do not accept this is what we deserve bear in mind he paid 64million for us? remember he has only spent 200million or so less than it costs to buy say everton, spurs etc
ClivetheVillan
Clive lose the caps lock, it doesn't make your point it makes you look like a 12 year old who can't type. What exactly would you do with players who want to leave the club? If a players head is turned should we hold them to the contract, see them go on a Bosman and see them disrupt the dressing room? Get real mate. We aren't a selling club, every player has their price and when a player has their head turned it's game over. Stop blaming the chairman, the manager, the tea lady, the fans, the groundmans....it's childish and shows little understanding of the current game.

Also when you want to quote what other clubs have been sold for, you'd do yourself a favour by looking at comparitive wealth. Implying as you do that somebody worth 14 trillion who gets a club for 100 million, compared to somebody worth a billion who gets a club for 64 million should make up the difference in spending not only shows your lack of knowledge, it's disrespectful to the money our chairman has put in, but then again I'm talking to somebody who obviously doesn't have a clue so why am I bothering. Spend or go....LMFAO, pay attention to the club you purport to support instead of believing the bloody newspaper assumptions. Troll on.
mike_field
Harsh, Mike. A bit personal there in your rebuke.
Rawlie
I'm with Mike - reckoned he had it coming Rawlie. It's generation Y "IwantitandIwantitnow" stuff and life doesn't work like that.
YatesyVillain
When KMac says he wants the job,I'll get behind him. It's make your mind up time. He has played a different style of team and football to MON it's true, but there's different and different. I still can't see the point of playing a footballer out of position over and over if they simply are no good in the new position. MON did it and now KMac. Recent past players who were moved into different clicked straight away - Barry, Milner. Please get Ireland in the hole bhind Gabby and put Ash back on the left with Albrighton on the right. Call me stupid, but it's not rocket science. And in saying this, I don't think I'm getting on KMac's back. UTV. The club will come through this, but let's not suffer too much damage along the way by odd selections and tactics. I was rather hoping we'd left that behind with MON.

lol, gents, calm it down... we are all friends here no matter what side of the fence we sit ... !
The Fear
lolTotally agree Fear, i luv this site m8 i didnt know about it until last week or two im gratefull cos im sick of reading man utd's fans on sky sports comments and views etc. Thanx for this great site we all want us to do the right thing just different opinions on how to do it ! :)
ClivetheVillan
Clive, I think you have made your point now. Most of us disagree, I for one would hate to see a City situation unfold at B6, its everything wrong with the game. I love that our chairmen looks at our club from a sustainable perspective, and I think majority of fans (not just Villa fans) would agree the Milner deal was epic on behalf of our board. As Paul Merson said (legend BTW) "It's the deal of the century' . Randy has also come out and says "Ash...no not for sale" LOVE IT! The way our club is being ran at the moment deserves credit and praise and at this time of mini crisis we all need to get behind it. My only beef is I want to see urgency from Kev Mac and the guys looking for a replacements. HOLTE ENDERS IN THE SKY! (ops sorry for Caps Mike)
mattyh1986
all about opinions Clive. Sometimes things get heated and the only reason for that is that we ALL want the best for Villa. Footie is a madness and I love it, especially how we can all watch the same game and see totally different things. Love it when I do player ratings sometimes and others will come on and agree, others will rip into it and 'are you for real' ... all great fun I think. Some forget to take it all with a pinch of salt though... And ofcourse, we would all be much better off if everyone just agreed with my... ahem... expert... cough cough... opinions... not only on football.... ! :O)))))
The Fear
Understand the views guys, i see the point, frustration is the word i would use for my comments. yeah time to cheer the boys and make Villa Park a fortress i feel. Cmon Villa
