Well, the manager talk centres mostly on Kevin MacDonald.
Oh, before that... the rumour that a major new manager is set to be announced... this following a so called ITK and being linked in Robbo's blog... and that three players are coming in with him is total and utter junk. These in the knows really should get their facts straight before winding up fans and getting people excited!
Reports suggest that Randy Lerner and the players are keen on Big Mac.... Big Mac isn't convinced though?
I think the very fact he isn't convinced means he should stay in the excellent position he holds and carry on doing what he does so well bringing the kids through in the reserves and helping the fringe senior players back into the full team.
Then again, what do I know?
I just think if you aren't sure that you want this job, then it is a massive mountain to climb and what happens when the pressure is really on?
You HAVE TO BE chomping at the bit to take a job like this surely? Big Mac... a truly great Villa servant, has been in the game long enough to know whether he fancies a shot at a big job or not and it seems from his quotes to date, that he really doesn't?
Neil Moxley at The Daily Mail has a good article. He quotes Kev: 'I have spoken with Mr Lerner and we decided, if we wait until after the Everton game, we have a two-week break. If I decide this job is for me, I`ll hopefully get an interview, speak to the owner and pass on my thoughts about how to take the club forwards. If it`s not for me, then all the other people being considered will get their interviews.'
Neil says... MacDonald`s lack of ego is endearing. It is one of the reasons players have been keen for him to step into the void. However, he remains undecided whether life as a Barclays Premier League manager is for him.
Is the lack of an ego not a major problem? Surely to be a manager you have to have a big and strong ego to think you are doing the right thing?
Big Mac adds: 'You know, I don`t get a buzz if fans chant my name. If I could pick a team and stand there like the invisible man, I`d be happy with that.'
The article also says that if he took the job he might get a more experienced person in to work alongside him. Ha, I mentioned this earlier in the week... maybe I'm not quite the idiot I thought I was... as Neil says Two-time former boss Graham Taylor would be the perfect fit.
More in The Telegraph albeit similar quotes.
The Mirror say that Blues boss Alex McLeish is not considering making the move from Blue to Claret and Blue.
Meanwhile potential Villa manager target...?.... Sven Goran Eriksson is also being linked the Ukraine job. Then again, what job isn't he linked with? This from the The Daily Mail
Tell you what, Glen Hoddle might not be a bad shout?!
Who would take the old golden ticket of Brian Little with John Gregory back as his coach back!??!
