General Krulak On Tough Timing To Find New Manager

General Krulak has spoken in his thread in 100% Villa (

That all that can be done is being done to bring in a new manager.

'With all due respect, let's review the bidding. Our manager walked out with 5 days before the beginning of the season. Randy had spoken to him on Saturday and flew back to the US thinking things were fine. On Monday, the manager quit. That same day Randy started his trip back to the UK. He arrived, appointed KM as interim manager, finalized the Milner/Ireland deal and started getting with advisors re. a manager.'

'He certainly wasn't sitting on his duff.'

'Many fans would love for me to come on the site and say, 'Here is the list of people we are looking at, here they are in priority order, and here is who we believe will be on the sidelines next week.' Well, I just can't do that! Everyone knows that whatever I put on a site is open game for the NOT expect me to give that sort of info. You ask that I give a statement that we are working 'flat out' to get a many ways do you want me to say it???? I have said it, at least, four times on this site alone.'

'How many quality managers do you think are out there...sitting on their couches waiting for the Villa to call??? How many good manager have either recently signed contracts or are on extended ones? How many of those feel ready to jump ship? Throwing money at them does NOT do the job...believe me.'

Good point, sadly, the timing of MON's departure has made the job twenty times harder for the club to replace him. Coincidence? Yes, I'm sure it is... ahem.

GK added about the fickle nature of football:

'A week ago, KM had a squad that played an exciting brand of football against a team...he then took a squad to Vienna and came away with an away goal and a good chance for a win at Villa on this very site were saying that we 'found our manager.' This weekend, his team had a howler at Newcastle and it is 'throw him out.' Everyone wants a manager yesterday...well, that isn't going to happen. AND, as for those who seem to see some nefarious hidden agenda in the time lag (ie. so we won't have to spend money during the transfer window) that is hogwash!!!!!!'

'Everyone wants a striker...anyone have a name for us that is available??? Seriously available...that a team is ready to put on the chopping block? And if so, how good do we really think he is if the lad is up for sale at this time?'

He also assures the fans he has passed on the feedback to Randy: 'I know fans are unhappy. I have passed ALL of the comments up to Randy. He is NOT thumbing his nose at the fans. He gives a shite and is working hard'

I have to say I find it very refreshing that GK comes on here and addresses the fans. There is a fair amount of crap and conspiracy theories doing the rounds, but the yanks certainly have their heads screwed on and won't be forced into making rash and bad decisions. In Randy I trust.

My favourite thing about the current board is krulaks openness and honesty with the fans. He is of course right. MON has truly screwed us over. Kmac really showed his tactical naivity and inexperience yesterday and that is not a good combo against the best strategic managers on the planet! No easy solution atm.

Klass Jan Huntelaar? Hasn't he practically been openly offered out to clubs? About the manager, I understand what you're saying, it's obviously not going to be easy at this time in the season, so to that i'll just Good Luck.

I question the intelligence of some folks on here, I'm fairly sure that GK doesn't really think managers sit around on their sofa waiting for a call, he was simply illustrating the point that there aren't that many good managers out there at the mo. I'm fairly confident that the club are reviewing CVs and possibly interviewing candidates, Erikson and Bradley have both said they have been in touch with the club. Better to take time and get the right man. As far as strikers are concerned, available means clubwill sell for sensible fee, wants to come and we can afford the wages - just because the red tops print that a player is unwanted and being touted around, it doesn't mean its true, if Huntelar was truly "available" why has no club across europe signed him never mind one in the EPL. Give Randy and Co a break its not their fault MON is a total w***er, who dropped us in it.

@Stig-How are Villa 'in decline'?. The form after Moscow/Stoke City in 08/09. That was 'decline'. Villa have lost a severely limited manager who'd taken the club as far as he could. The side now has an inexperienced caretaker who made some tactical/selection mistakes. Big deal! Villa are above Liverpool. It's a long season, anything can happen. After the side were beaten by Wigan a year ago, there was talk of relegation, then the team got a fantastic result against L'pool.

The sheer arrogance of P.avfc & Steve64k has got me properly angry, to suggest we shouldn't have lost to Newcastle just cos it was Newcastle is exactly the same attitude the players had (and hence WHY we lost - Petrov apparently admitted as much) and exactly the same attitude I expect from Spurs fans. This is the Premiership, turn up half-hearted to ANY game at ANY team (newly promoted or otherwise) at ANY ground and you WILL get embarrassed.

Sorry, I should've said SOME Spurs fans. Not all of you are that bad, most of the ones that post on here I actually have a lot of time for.

lurman what are you on about? Since when have we said we shouldnt have lost to newcastle? The bottom line is we shouldn't have yes but we expected a tough game not to lose 6-0!! They are a newly promoted premier league team so how is bein *****ed off and saying we shouldnt have lost 6-0 arrogant? Any top 10 team losing 6-0 to newcastle would be an embarrasment considerin last year they was in the championship. By saying we shouldnt have lost 6-0 doesnt mean we thought the game would be easy and even if we did, 6-0 is not acceptable in any situation even with the team we played against vienna, but they would have probably done better.

got to say i agree with your posts ..avbornandbred....we were all down after the newcastle game and its natural to feel such disapointment, but this isnt a time to be critical of the club,i certainly dont blame them for the loss of milner because when the big bucks come calling it will almost certaintly get the desired result .we like most havent got the resources available to us that man city have ,we can moan as much as we like but the reality will be they will get what they want simply because they can finance it,and im reasonably certain no one in the prem can compete with them on finance ,so if they desire a player they will get him. i wouldnt want to be stuck in a trench with some of you ,first bit of flak and youd be running round like headless chickens. lets look at it objectively, our manager walks 5 days before the season starts, which kind of leaves us a bit short to say the least,we have a couple of decent results ,followed by a real kick where it hurts,so definatly were all in a state of shock but its a time to stand behind the club .up untill now i dont feel let down by lerner i think hes pretty much done right by us hes backed oneill in the transfer market to the tune of around 120 million .i think and believe they are looking after the long term financial affairs of the club ,i wouldnt want the situation of a leeds or a pompey at villa. lets get the right manager at the club it would have been better to have him in by now but if we cant get what we want at this moment then it just might be we have to be patient . choose in haste repent at leisure, lets trust the people running the club ,trust in their judgement ,and untill they prove to us otherwise help and back them. come on you villa boys
