USA Coach Bob Bradley Wants Villa Job... Gulp

Ok, so we have Kevin MacDonald unsure whether he wants the Villa job or not: Click Here

One man not in the slightest unsure and putting his name firmly in the hat is USA international coach Bob Bradley.

An interview on BBC Sport from an interview on Radio 5 live has him saying he would be 'honoured' to talk with Randy Lerner about the vacancy but confirms as yet there has been no contact.... surely as it should remain!?

'There have been talks with my representatives to find out the situation.'

Apparently Bradley's contract with the USA international team, who beat England to top spot in their World Cup group remember... as if we could forget... runs out at the end of the year.

Stories not long back were suggesting he had resigned and was due to take up the job at Villa. I was able to pour water on that very quickly, not that anyone listened!

'Following the World Cup there have been some discussions with US Soccer about what the future holds and we will continue those discussions in the next few weeks and we will see what happens. I think that there are challenges on both sides. I have always been excited by the possibility of being a manager in Europe, but we're proud of the work we have put in with the US team and it's important to see that as a challenge.'

He did confirm he would love the job... 'Of course. Villa is a massive club, with a great history and a great following. Those opportunities would of course be of interest. It's pretty clear that Randy Lerner has done a solid job where tradition is kept.'

Mc D is doubtful because he has never done the job before and is uncertain if he could cope or would want to with the 24 hour nature of the job. Whilst Bradley may be a good coach (Mc D 2 maybe?) he has never run a professional club - signed players, worked with foreigners etc. etc. So what qualifications does he hold over McD? What has he proved? In the US the plyers are owned by the league and not the clubs so there is no comparable transfer market. Sorry, given the all encompassing role of a manager I do not see a man with the required experience here.

It would be silly of Randy to appoint someone that most of the fans would be against. I hope for a drumming of Newcastle today and Macdonald to be signed up for the season by tomorrow to steady the ship and make sure we have the right man come the start of next season. hopefully that will be Macdonald but if not at least we should have good choices by then.

It is difficult. Kevin Mac has shown to be a star at reserve and youth level. We do not want to lose this from the club. Equally I am not sure he is right for the 'big' job even if we beat the Barcodes today. However I have been advised to put some money on avfc48's favourite (well it was 4 years ago), Jurgen Klinsman. My sources (and regular users know they are invariably correct) have informed me, that despite current betting odds, he is at the front of the list.

Warnock is now backing MacDonald for the job so that's more players coming out for Kevin. I would usually really be up for backing who ever the club appointed but if it was someone like Bob, Klinsman or swen I would be truly gutted. If Macdonald does not want it give it to Mcandrew!!

Bring him in... He'll do a better job then MacDonald. 3-0 to Newcastle? Any manager could do better then that
