Weimann Out To Upset Family With Villa Win

Starlet Andreas Weimann is determined to push himself further into Kevin MacDonald's plans tonight, even though a Villa win will split the family.

Speaking on the Official Site as the players steady themselves for a touch of revenge tonight in the Gerhard Hanappi Stadium, self confessed Rapid Vienna fan Weimann is delighted to have returned home to Austria to get his first team career properly underway.

'It feels good to be back in Austria, I am really happy because I am from Vienna and I played for them for three years.'

Weimann came through Rapid's youth system before joining us, and naturally his family are all Rapid fans, so it's set to be a special night for all in the Weimann household.

'I guess if I play they will support Aston Villa - I hope they will support Villa. I just told them I was in the squad and they are really happy.'

As you'd expect the Weimann clan have been nothing but supportive of Andy's time at the Villa so far, and if memory serves me during last seasons reserve campaign, whenever he was playing, his dad would pop onto the live text commentary service on the official site to follow the games. So if hopefully, Andy does get on the pitch tonight watch out for the happy Rapid fans cheering his every move - I'm assuming they'll stand out!

As for his Premiership bow against Wet Spam, he added:

'It was really great to get five minutes and play in front of such an audience. To play for Villa's first team is an honour.'

I look forward to the day where the honour becomes a regular occurrence.

What a lovely time it will be for him if he plays. Enjoy it mate.

That looked like a nasty ankle injury that he picked up, particularly frustrating for him as he had only been on the pitch for about five minutes or so. Hope it proves to be none too serious. His star is very definitely on the rise, and he doesn't need any major injury set-backs to hold him back at all.
