Sidwell Baggies Move Imminent?

Sidwell Baggies Move Imminent?

Steve Sidwell has not travelled with the squad to face Rapid Vienna and although he has picked up an injury recently, Kev MacDonald said that he thought he would recover in time for the trip to Austria. On the Official Villa website Dan Harrison and Claire Boden have been blogging throughout the day as the squad has travelled to Birmingham Airport and then flown out to Austria.

However, on the first post, they said that two of the players first to arrive were Nigel Reo-Coker and Steve Sidwell. Only now the club has taken a long time to announce the squad travelling and Steve Sidwell is not included. This does seem a little strange and would explain why it has taken so long for the full squad that has been travelling to be announced so late in the day.

Is Sidwell all set to join West Brom?

I think so!

I hope so, I think that would be a good move for all parties.

Nige is a good solid player, he always gives 100%, we wouldn't of beaten Liverpool at Anfield if he hadn't been playing. How can you make a judgement on a player who has been out injured for a long time? [Edited by Mike Field]
PiperUK
PiperUK - Won us the game at Liverpool hahaha. He badly controled the ball and it was going out for a goal kick when all of a sudden Gerard decided to upend him...Won us the game hahahaha. Coker hasn't got it in him to win us a game...Now Sidwell has and has done it. Sidwell was in fact Very Good when we went 1 up front a couple of years back. Coker has been shocking from day 1 the biggest flop since Nigel Callaghan. Only David Hunt comes close to how bad Coker is. David Hunt signed from Notts County 1987. [Edited by Mike Field]
Reo-Coker is crap
RCIC - 'numerous long range top corner goals'!? Sidwell's only scored three times since he's been here. NRC looks a quality player whenever he gets a run of games and always gives his all. [Edited by Mike Field]
SchoolBoyError
i hope sidwell or coker do not move on, personally i think they are good, experienced prem players, and i would hope that they do not move on, unless we bring another midfielder in, we need to build a strong squad.
parkez17
Sidwell deal unlikely as the wages are far too high for the Baggies also Tiote's price is probably too for West Brom also. Looks like Sidwell will be stuck with you until he is a free agent.
Lord Shepherd
P.avfc, you are spot on. Every time NRC plays we look a better side!! His energy and drive is what we miss so often, particularly against the poorer sides in the division who can't beat us with football so look to get in our faces and get men behind the ball when we have possession - Stan's retention and slowing the game down does not help in these circumstances. Anyone who says NRC hides from the ball can't be watching the Villa - he is the only Villa midfielder that I remember, other than Jimmy, that consistently moves into position and looks for the ball.
barry'sboots
villan57 - What are thy talking about? SchoolBoyError - who said for Villa? Not me i'm talking Reading, Chelsea & Villa (Everton & pre season). As for this run in the team when was that then? He's been that ***** a run in the team never happened. [Edited by Mike Field]
Reo-Coker is crap
Mike yoiu keep editing is it you are editing? Can i add i'm making my point & end up having to defend myself against personal attacks that are because of my site name and nothing to do with the subject matter. Is the Childish insult thing aimed at me?
Reo-Coker is crap
barry'sboots - He does not look for the ball he points his finger at another player a silent was of saying don't give it me give it him. That is a FACT.
Reo-Coker is crap
Don't reciprocate and it won't be aimed at you will it. You've got to expect some attention given a name like that but you aren't the only one I edited here to prove the point were you.
mike_field
Why are you editing at all we are not in North Korea...You are acting like a school teacher telling us all off for having different opinions. Is there a party line we should be following? Please send me the rules?
Reo-Coker is crap
I thank you for your remarks, I'll run and cry in the corner. I left the salient bit, no need for the dig you included in your sentence concerning David Hunt - try thinking about it, debate the post not the poster, tis rather easy in in fact. Not the first thread you've been involved with that I've posted reminders on, but hey keep ignoring them. Takes more effort on your part to post the insults and digs that offer absolutely nothing to the debate, than it does for me to remove them.
mike_field
I rate sidders just as highly as i rate Nig. I think their lack of first team football has dropped their confidence and it can be seen in their play. it appears very conservative which doesn't do much for creative play. That being said both have their ups and downs. Sidders isn't afraid to have a crack at goal whilst i find Nig more reliable in possession of the ball.
Zarch
i'd pay for his taxi.
benji_starsky_avfc
He's a nose on the wind up Mike - you should ban him - he adds nothing.
YatesyVillain
YatesyVillain - No who's insulting who? This had nothing to do with you but yet you get involved!!! To me you have just added nothing to the debate. If you had slept with my wife i would be less *****ed than being called a blue nose. mike_field - I'll run and cry in the corner??? and you call me childish!
Reo-Coker is crap
FFS gents, why are we bitching like girls??? Reo-Coker is worse than crap but I'm sure that the username wouldn't have been allowed. If anyone thinks that he has won us any games then they haven't got a clue. I can see how some will argue that he does a job for the team IF ( only IF ) we play in a certain manner, which basically means adjusting everyone else to accomodate him. There is no skill there and IF he just did the Makelele role then everyone would be happy. Problem is with these stupid runs. They don't ever produce anything as he can't pass full stop. I'm not saying that he isn't very good at passing. He can't pass (or shoot for that matter) atall. 1 out of 7 goes where he wants it to but that's just odds of probability. Energy and speed and tenacity are all there in abundance but he just needs to take it easy some times and NOT go tearing off at top speed with the ball at his feet with no options available other than take everyone on and score a wonder goal which he clearly isn't capable of. I manage a pub team and the young kids coming through these days are just like Nige. Head down and run as if they're in the playground. MON should have instilled the simplicity of win the ball and give it short whilst retaining your position/player to mark. Only good thing that I will admit is that he did mark Ronaldo out of that game a couple of years ago buty I was at Old Trafford 2 years ago when we were 2-1 up, he was introduced and they scored 2 goals eminating from his position.
Villan444
why would we need to spend our time worrying / debating your username RCIC. If you want a thread in the forum, do so, go to off topic. As for the headmaster thing, MF and the other mods only moderate to my requests to keep out abuse / personal comments (unless banter) and is more than right to do so. To be clear and open, we do it so it shows when a post has been edited, which is rare. Not sure why this has become a debate about you or your username, your opinions re: sidwell seem fair enough and Villa related.
The Fear
Fear this Coker is crap fella is making me feel sick can you do something about it please? I know people are allowed their own opinions and everything, however detrimental it is to general health and safety but anybody who honestly thinks Sidwell is a good player, and for a club like Aston Villa especially, must've been brain washed.
PTP
If I'm the headmaster......hmmmm.

Quite like the idea of being a dictator actually, do I get my own militia and small country lol
mike_field
Just having a laugh Mike would be nice if you could take it the way it is meant as a bit of fun!! Anyway wouldn't you like the Vital England Job?
Reo-Coker is crap
I'd have thought that was hinted by the fact I was pretty clear I was laughing. I'm fair game, I couldn't give a monkeys, but as for Vital England you must be laughing. I have to force myself to have an interest in England if we have a Villan playing. No Villans mean no Mikey watching, I'd be happy if International football was scraped.
