Sidwell Baggies Move Imminent?

Steve Sidwell has not travelled with the squad to face Rapid Vienna and although he has picked up an injury recently, Kev MacDonald said that he thought he would recover in time for the trip to Austria. On the Official Villa website Dan Harrison and Claire Boden have been blogging throughout the day as the squad has travelled to Birmingham Airport and then flown out to Austria.

However, on the first post, they said that two of the players first to arrive were Nigel Reo-Coker and Steve Sidwell. Only now the club has taken a long time to announce the squad travelling and Steve Sidwell is not included. This does seem a little strange and would explain why it has taken so long for the full squad that has been travelling to be announced so late in the day.

Is Sidwell all set to join West Brom?

I think so!

I hope so, I think that would be a good move for all parties.

Nige is a good solid player, he always gives 100%, we wouldn't of beaten Liverpool at Anfield if he hadn't been playing. How can you make a judgement on a player who has been out injured for a long time? [Edited by Mike Field]

PiperUK - Won us the game at Liverpool hahaha. He badly controled the ball and it was going out for a goal kick when all of a sudden Gerard decided to upend him...Won us the game hahahaha. Coker hasn't got it in him to win us a game...Now Sidwell has and has done it. Sidwell was in fact Very Good when we went 1 up front a couple of years back. Coker has been shocking from day 1 the biggest flop since Nigel Callaghan. Only David Hunt comes close to how bad Coker is. David Hunt signed from Notts County 1987. [Edited by Mike Field]

RCIC - 'numerous long range top corner goals'!? Sidwell's only scored three times since he's been here. NRC looks a quality player whenever he gets a run of games and always gives his all. [Edited by Mike Field]

i hope sidwell or coker do not move on, personally i think they are good, experienced prem players, and i would hope that they do not move on, unless we bring another midfielder in, we need to build a strong squad.

Sidwell deal unlikely as the wages are far too high for the Baggies also Tiote's price is probably too for West Brom also. Looks like Sidwell will be stuck with you until he is a free agent.

P.avfc, you are spot on. Every time NRC plays we look a better side!! His energy and drive is what we miss so often, particularly against the poorer sides in the division who can't beat us with football so look to get in our faces and get men behind the ball when we have possession - Stan's retention and slowing the game down does not help in these circumstances. Anyone who says NRC hides from the ball can't be watching the Villa - he is the only Villa midfielder that I remember, other than Jimmy, that consistently moves into position and looks for the ball.
