Understandly perhaps, not that much going on transfer gossip wise. What a strange transfer window (for most clubs) seems to be sod all happening. Bet it will all happen on the last day of the window!
Anyway, apparently, Manchester City are looking at a 25m Euro bid for Bordeaux's France international midfielder Yoann Gourcuff. End of their interest in James Milner now do you think?
Stiliyan Petrov hopes that Milner will stay. He told the Birmingham Mail Click Here The Villa captain said 'He deserves the standing ovation because you don`t see many more honest players in the world coming out and playing like that with such heart. He was flattered and when you play for a team, you make the fans happy and you see the fans are behind you it makes it harder to leave. After that he may even decide to stay, you never know.'
He also says that Milner isn't that bothered by the speculation and explained 'When you are a good player and teams want to pay £20 million, £30 million for you then you can do nothing about it. He is giving everything for the club like he always does. He`s a great pro and people should learn from him.'
The rumours still suggest the move is being held up by Stephen Ireland over his pay off and it appears Villa will not take a cash only deal for Milner. Just adds to the argument that Villa ARE NOT A SELLING CLUB despite the ignorant reporters like Oliver Hoult saying the opposite. The Sky Sunday Supplement (Sky Sports on a Sunday morning was so biased and pro-MON anti Villa it was an embarrassment this weekend)

The Fear
It's funny how things change, a few weeks ago i wanted Milner to go for the money we were being offered (with Ireland in the deal) and i thought MON was a god. I can't believe how much my view on both of those has changed. Milner was great last tear in a midfield that was bypassed most of the time. After watching him on the weekend i really don't want him to go and i really think he is going to step up to a new level this year, especially with the new style we are playing now

Oliver Holt, like the vast majority of the fleet-street, has a long track-record of being a pillock. Anyone who took what he had to sya seriously would be a mug. There are three reasons I can think of as to why Milner would stay. First, he's changed his mind about where the club is heading. Second, Ireland doesn't get satisfaction from City. Third, City decide to move on to someone else. I still expect Milner to go, but I'm not as sure as I was. On the nature of the deal, I'd be extremely surprised, if not downright amazed, if we weren't willing to accept a cash-only deal - provided it was big enough. If we really wanted Ireland we could always go back in for him at a later date - and perhaps sign him at a lower price. Failing that, we could look at countless other options.

Would love Milner to stay his performance on Saturday was possibly the best I have seen him in a Villa shirt. However think it is too far down the line and would take an awful lot of back tracking from all concerned.
As for Holt and the rest of his so called profession he is just an ar**, they keep on how Villa are a selling club and we have sold our best players well who exactly???
classof13
Just sums up the national press' unfounded bias towards MON. Don't get me wrong, I'd bought into it, he's a lovable chap (his dithering interviews are hilarious), but 4 years down the line and a desertion later, I'll be honest, I think the mans a bit of a t**t that appears to be losing his marbles.
I'm open minded about Milner, he's a good player, a hard worker and after Saturday I agree we'd miss his battling displays. But on the other hand, he's not worth £25m - £30m so it is a good deal. Either way I'll be happy but I'd just prefer it to go away now, sort it out Lerner!!

interesting link tristan. Not heard of them before. Not sure I'd fully trust that but interesting nevertheless!
The Fear
Glad it was'nt just me who almost threw the tv out the window in anger listening to all the seriously biased journalists on the sunday supplement...I was raging at what they perceived to know about our club players & owners...he also walked out, we did not get rid of him...jees, I'm angry again now just thinking about it!!!
marcobavfc
Had also come around to the idea of Milner going & gettin in Ireland & some good money...However, after Saturday I cant help but goin back to wishin he would stay, good player great attitude, good age & who the squad clearly enjoy having around the place...it really was a committed performance on Saturday, above & beyond the professional approach we knew we would get...that reception at the end must have got to him & I bet it gave some of the players more ammo in persuading him to stay....
marcobavfc
Really big clue will be whether he plays in europe or not i would presume...
