Thank You James Milner
No doubt about it he is making the right move for his financial future but no doubt about it, he is making the wrong move for his career.
James Milner will be a bench player at Manchester City and will struggle to get game time but even though he is a fool for wanting money over playing football you can't help but admire him for what he did yesterday.
His move to Man City will be done in the next few days but still he had the commitment in him to pull on the claret and blue shirt one last time, walk out into a packed Villa Park knowing he would get some stick and he played to his absolute best for us! Fair play to him!
For the record I was one of few in the North Stand that cheered him from the start, hopefully more Villa fans did the same! We're getting a lot of money for him and although people are on his back saying he's a money grabber, aren't we the fans too?
I don't think I have read one comment all summer from a fan saying to keep Milner and forget the £30M deal. The reason being that it is good business sense; get a replacement in with Stephen Ireland and £18M. It's also good business sense for Milner because he will have financial security for life, but at what cost?
He is going, no doubt about it, but just wanted to say thank you to James for ignoring the boos and jeers and doing what you do best, pulling on a Villa shirt and helping our club to 3 points! You can't have anything but admiration for Milner for playing yesterday in front of the Villa Park crowd and playing how he did, absolutely great stuff!
After his standing ovation yesterday I think i speak for the majority of Aston Villa fans when I say thank you James and one day if the time is right, it would be nice to see you come back to us when Man City flop (which they will).
A good lad, a great character, an exceptional talent, (he may be money driven but who isn't in their own respected line of work?) good luck James and thanks for what you did here, the club will move on but thanks for helping us get our season off to the best possible start.
UTV!
