Ian taylor - Criticism Of MON 'Justified'

Villa legend Ian Taylor in The Express & Star has joined others like Andy Gray in condemning Martin O'Neill for walking out on Aston Villa and the fans.

Ian said:

'As for O`Neill, the criticism he has received these last few days is entirely justified. It was interesting to hear General Charles Krulak, the club`s non-executive director, come out saying O`Neill thought he was bigger than the club.'

Adding, 'By the sounds of it, O`Neill had a big ego - there`s no doubting walking out on your club of four years just five days before the start of the new season was a selfish act. If you had genuine love for the club you wouldn`t do it. The timing was simply awful.'

For those planning on chanting MON's name on Saturday - as a slap in the face to an owner who funded him to the tune of £120million - maybe they will think again when a player of Ian's stature talks?

I'll be very disappointed to hear any MON chants or anti-Randy chants tomorrow. We should be getting behind the Aston Villa team and trying to create an atmosphere to inspire our players, not bleating on about a man who just left us in the lurch.

Only thing I'm interested in is supporting the people involved come Saturday, that Includes Lerner, McDonald & the players, so to get 3 points...Anyone/thing else is just irrelevant as far as I'm concerned!!! I never really cheer & have not booed ex players or managers as if there not with the Villa I'm not concerned, everything I do on matchday is geared towards supporting the Villa only...Do reserve special applause for Legends of the claret & blue who return for various reasons...

I was a mon fan, but since he quit and the way he quit has changed my mind, i have a gut feeling that Macdonald is gonna get the job cos of a good start to the season and turn out to be a legend!!!!!!!! come on u villa boys.

UTV. I was never a massive fan of MON before he signed for us. I used to find him quite annoying when on TV. However i was over the moon when he did as I knew his reputation. I grew to love him and supported him. However the way he has left us in the lurch is shocking. I honestly thought that it was because we were about to sell Young so was still on his side initially but now that looks not to be the case I am now looking only to the future. Also looking forward to never having to see the Carew - Heskey / Heskey Carew sub on 68 minutes EVER F'KIN GAME!!! UTV.
