Milner May Have To Play For Villa Again?

According to the whispers that have even made their way to the BBC site, the move for James Milner. to Manchester City, which everyone expected to be completed yesterday, has hit a snag.

Apparently Stephen Ireland. wants a £2m pay off from Manchester City. Can't say I blame him, I'll have the same if they would be so kind.

The deal is apparently £18m + Ireland. That is a £30million deal for us as Ireland was valued around £12m. Sounds like a great deal to me that. What say you?

Again, our club showing - like Arsenal and Spurs before us - that we aren't dummies, we won't be bullied but we will buy at the right price and sell at the right price. Great business practice that?

'City have no intentions of backing down in the face of Ireland's demands,' said BBC Radio 5 live correspondent Pat Murphy. 'They feel that too many clubs are trying to take advantage of their vast riches and that £2m is a ridiculous sum to dispense with a player who didn't feature much last season and is not in Roberto Mancini's future plans. City also believe that Ireland is simply not entitled to £2m to leave. If no compromise can be reached then the Milner deal is shelved for the time being.'

So, maybe Milner will be in our team for tomorrow instead? Hope so. Part of the reason, as I understand it, some players wanted out was due to the unrest in the dressing room, maybe that now being 'resolved' will be a positive thing for all involved?

The Express say JAMES MILNER is expected to complete his £26million move to Manchester City within 24 hours.

Can't see him playing for you though, not until the transfer window shuts anyway, otherwise the fee for Ireland to leave (which is ridiculous) might be agreed but ouch, Milner's done his cruciate ligaments. Can't see you taking that sort of risk, especially Lerner who needs that transfer fee to balance the books!

BBC now say the payoff has been sorted... I asume it just the medicals left.

Getting that usual but strange feeling of nervous excitement about tomorrow - can only think about the game now!!!

Thing is JF, it smacks of greed over actually wanting first team footie. £2m would set any of us up for life, but it's likely Mr Ireland already mega-loaded so what's his motivation ? All seems a bit suss to me. Can't help feeling that if Milner stays his heart won't be in it, much like Barry in his final season.

i cant blame ireland for wanting a payoff, i recently took a voluntary realease package(12 months salary)from a well payed job and i wouldn't have left without being payed to do so. dont think we should judge the lad until he's actually at B6 wearing a villa shirt but i expect him to be hungry to impress and kickstart his career again.

I'd still take him and agree with the majority that you can't blame him for wanting his contract to be paid up. I think once he get's on the pitch he'll prove his undoubted quality and could be the change of player that we need to unlock defenses and provide the killer ball...
