Davies and Albrighton to start Saturday?

Kevin MacDonald has revealed that Carlos Cuellar and James Collins will both not be fit for the West Ham game this Saturday.

However, with Curtis Davies returning to training this week and Richard Dunne recovered from his injury to play for the Republic Of Ireland last night, both should be fit to play. It looks like Curtis's long wait is at an end!

He will be brought back in from the cold and you would have to assume that our defense this weekend will consist of Dunne and Davies with Luke Young and Stephen Warnock as fullbacks. Also Kevin Mac mentioned how pleased he was to see Albrighton receive his U21 chance and take it with both hands expressing his delight that he only played 19 minutes of the England game.

Surely this is a hint that Kevin is hoping to use Marc in the starting line up this weekend. Other injury news, Agbonlahor is expected to be fit this weekend despite a slight injury concern and John Carew is a doubt with a knee problem.

Don't know about everyone else but I'm pleased for Davies; he's waited so long after his shoulder injury to come back into the team and the first game that MON is not in charge and here he is!

Can't wait for this Saturday! UTV!

about time we started using our squad of more than capable players, one major positive to come from all of this is in one way it will be like having new signings as the likes of davies, reo coker etc have never had fair chance to show what they can do

Frediel, Young, Dunne, Davies, Warnock, Albrighton, Reo-Coker, Petorov, Young, Agbonlahor ( Young playing a more advanced role of agbonlahor unless he is not fit then carew) That will probably be the team. Just though we have 4 solid cb's in dunne, collins, davies and cuellar, dont no who id play, Dunne would be a certanty but any of them could get the other position.

Anyone noticed the squad numbers on the site? Left number 9 free does this indicate we may get a striker to wear the number 9 shirt?
12/08/2010 12:06:00
P.avfc- unless ireland wants the nine?
12/08/2010 12:25:00
Davies was pretty out of order if you ask me - he was 1st choice at the start of the season, got injured for half of it, and then can't expect to just walk back into the team when Collins and Dunne were doing so well... And Downing really needs to sort himself out this year or else he'll find his career slipping away before he knows it.

AV-Damo and Zarch yeah kinda missed downing he would be on the left. And rugga-boy he might but i was thinkin he would have milners number 8?
12/08/2010 12:44:00
AndyFC ....... what ?? no place for Heskey ?? You're kidding right ?? LOL !
12/08/2010 12:58:00
I completely agree with TheYank too (whoever said play Sidwell above, you need to take a long hard look at yourself ;0) )
12/08/2010 15:29:00
@theyank....I really cannot fault any of that, the formation, the starting line-up, it's brilliant. Better than any we fielded the whole of last season. I think that's the strongest starting 11 we could possibly field, and the formation suits the strengths of those players perfectly
12/08/2010 15:33:00
Well then, as I have the support of the fans, maybe I should become the manager. My first matter of business will be to sell Heskey/Sidwell and bring in Suarez/Van Der Vaart. Then my next matter of business would be to resign and make sure that my replacement is Guus Hiddink or Martin Jol.
