Davies and Albrighton to start Saturday?

Kevin MacDonald has revealed that Carlos Cuellar and James Collins will both not be fit for the West Ham game this Saturday.

However, with Curtis Davies returning to training this week and Richard Dunne recovered from his injury to play for the Republic Of Ireland last night, both should be fit to play. It looks like Curtis's long wait is at an end!

He will be brought back in from the cold and you would have to assume that our defense this weekend will consist of Dunne and Davies with Luke Young and Stephen Warnock as fullbacks. Also Kevin Mac mentioned how pleased he was to see Albrighton receive his U21 chance and take it with both hands expressing his delight that he only played 19 minutes of the England game.

Surely this is a hint that Kevin is hoping to use Marc in the starting line up this weekend. Other injury news, Agbonlahor is expected to be fit this weekend despite a slight injury concern and John Carew is a doubt with a knee problem.

Don't know about everyone else but I'm pleased for Davies; he's waited so long after his shoulder injury to come back into the team and the first game that MON is not in charge and here he is!

Can't wait for this Saturday! UTV!

about time we started using our squad of more than capable players, one major positive to come from all of this is in one way it will be like having new signings as the likes of davies, reo coker etc have never had fair chance to show what they can do
goodb_2
Frediel, Young, Dunne, Davies, Warnock, Albrighton, Reo-Coker, Petorov, Young, Agbonlahor ( Young playing a more advanced role of agbonlahor unless he is not fit then carew) That will probably be the team. Just though we have 4 solid cb's in dunne, collins, davies and cuellar, dont no who id play, Dunne would be a certanty but any of them could get the other position.

Anyone noticed the squad numbers on the site? Left number 9 free does this indicate we may get a striker to wear the number 9 shirt?
P.Avfc
P.avfc- unless ireland wants the nine?
ruggaboy
Davies was pretty out of order if you ask me - he was 1st choice at the start of the season, got injured for half of it, and then can't expect to just walk back into the team when Collins and Dunne were doing so well... And Downing really needs to sort himself out this year or else he'll find his career slipping away before he knows it.

AV-Damo and Zarch yeah kinda missed downing he would be on the left. And rugga-boy he might but i was thinkin he would have milners number 8?
P.Avfc
AndyFC ....... what ?? no place for Heskey ?? You're kidding right ?? LOL !
AV-Damo
I completely agree with TheYank too (whoever said play Sidwell above, you need to take a long hard look at yourself ;0) )
SchoolBoyError
@theyank....I really cannot fault any of that, the formation, the starting line-up, it's brilliant. Better than any we fielded the whole of last season. I think that's the strongest starting 11 we could possibly field, and the formation suits the strengths of those players perfectly
Callum_ws
Well then, as I have the support of the fans, maybe I should become the manager. My first matter of business will be to sell Heskey/Sidwell and bring in Suarez/Van Der Vaart. Then my next matter of business would be to resign and make sure that my replacement is Guus Hiddink or Martin Jol.
theyank
ok that didnt come out too well! Agree with DO'L above - it's the best back 4 at the club (despite Collins' form)...
stpaulmcgrath
can,t see davies getting a game because as soon has he does its going to cost villa more money.and remember learner still wan,ts some of the high earner of the books
one match ban
TheYank - You're not Bob Bradley by chance are you? We've already told you NO! ;)
SchoolBoyError
Don't be so stingey P.avfc, let us have Suarez you cheap git!
SchoolBoyError
Clark is way better than Davies and has more potential but otherwise would love it, although I'd play albrighton ahead of downing.
AVbornandbred
lol suarez would be a superb asset he played 48 scored 49 lol , if he rocked up at VP i would come (not to VP if u know what i mean ;-) )
mattyh1986
Davies will be quality playing alongside Dunne. He just needs a meathead next to him to fullfill his potential like when Laursen was here.
