General Krulak - NO One Is Bigger Than AVFC

General Krulak has been posting in the fans/director communication thread: Click Here

In an attempt to continue to keep Fans informed, I offer the following...and I know I haven't addressed all your comments and questions but I think, for the time being, this is the best way to communicate.

Obviously I am not in a position to comment on a new Manager...and it wouldn't be smart to do so.

What I will say is that we recognize this is a CRITICAL decision and one that needs to be made sooner than later BUT, equally important, in a manner that gets the RIGHT man.

We DO know how important this is...no one is thinking it will be easy. Reality is that we only have 4 days before our first game and rushing out to get a new manager just to have someone on the sidelines is not something anyone would want to do. One of the sad things about this whole affair is that Martin quit when he did.

I agree that the Club and Randy need to come out with a statement and they will. Speaking as a fan, I have tried to read everything printed in the media about Martin leaving and I must say they are very one-sided.

There is absolutely no question that Martin did a good deal for Villa and I have said, over and over, that I felt he did a fine job.
At the same time, I can promise everyone that he knew and understood the long range plans for the Club and bought into them. He knew full well about the need to bring wages in line with revenue...the same as all Clubs.

He was ABSOLUTELY supported by the owner...all one needs to do is look at the money spent over time. The reality is that the wage issue was not addressed and Martin was apparently unwilling to help address it. He quit. Do I think we have some rough times ahead? Probably....but nothing we can't handle.

I have been in tough scrapes before and never got out of them by 'wishing them away.' I just put my head down and continued to grind it out. We have NOT lost sight of our goal...not since the day we arrived.

As an aside, no one person is bigger than Aston Villa Football Club...not Randy, not me, not Paul and not Martin!

What is interesting is that, apparently, only three of those named understand that fact. We will continue to try to do what is best for the Club...with the very best intentions. Will we always get it right...probably not. BUT, we will work damn hard to do the right things.

Really sad to see MON go. IMO he has done a very good job, BUT on what we are hearing I back Randy and the Board fully. Our wages are far too high for our turnover. If that trend continues it's not long before disaster beckons.

Reckon the General is wrong. John Carew is pretty big.

What is interesting is that, apparently, only three of those named understand that fact - This most certainly slagging off MON, though nicely veiled, sadly I expect the mud slinging to get worse, and to a degree, it is well deserved by MON, though it will do Villa's moral no good

Come out the woodwork now fellow Villans....many of us had lost interest in MoN some time ago already.....all that we're "learning"in these few days following his resignation is perhaps not a surprise as much as it is what we might already have known. What strikes me here is the Generals honesty. I appluad it and finally MoN can be told he is not bigger than our club.
