David Moyes Rules Himself Out Of Villa Job

Ok, well we now have one ruling themselves out of the Villa job.

No real shock here, Everton boss David Moyes was bound to be linked but Everton are a big club and he has built fantastically well there with very little money.

Moyes told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: 'I'm loyal to Everton, I've always said that. It's a really good club. This year we've got a really good chance and this is where I'll be this season.'

I never thought he would go but now thats he's come out and said it I can rest easy!

Yeah, no surprise there, shame though, really good manager
krisvilla
Of course he's going to say that when asked if he's interested in ANY job. He can hardly say, "yes Alan I would really love an opportunity to manage Aston Villa". Let's see what happens when the Villa draw up their short-list and possibly ask Everton for permission to speak to him. If he refuses the job at that time then he really doesn't want it.

Sure he didn`t resign because he isn`t getting 30 million to spend?

Good on Moyes. Positive and loyal. Will Mark Hughes be the next to 'squash the rumours' with a similar statement? Martin Jol would be good, but I can't see Ajax allowing that either

What about Kevin Macdonald going permanent Manager??? Hear me out: 1) he's well respected and liked at the club. 2)Half the squad are what they are today because of him. 3) he's taken the reserves to 3 consecutive finals. 4) he's cheap... which partly solves the wage issue. I read an article saying that the lads wanted more technique drills and MON kept them on fitness drills. Something Kevin is big on. Maybe Lerner should throw caution to the wind and give Maconald a shot. I reckon see how he goes against west ham then see from there.

the technique drills kevin is big on. = )

randy - are you serious??? Obviously he isn't interested!

Southgate walked out on Villa once before, why should we trust him this time around? Clearly he has no team loyalty only self interest.

Bit of a shame, was my favourite of the other managers linked. Don't know who will take over. But now I want it to be either Sven or Bradley

Moyes has been a great manager. I admire his loyalty and wouldn't feel comfortable if Villa poached him. Wouldn't feel comfortable if Villa unsettled and poached anyone in post. Don't like it when it's done to us. Don't want to do it to others.

Ye Sven wouldn't be good... I think Jol would make a difference and he was close to signing for Fulham (who are well worse than Villa)
Vanilla Ice
No surprises...and I agree SchoolBoyError, who the hell is voting for Southgate? Outrageous
Callum_ws
We can't poach another manager as we know what it's like to have our best player poached every season and how long would they stay anyway?? Curbs has been jobless for too long and wasn't a top 8 let alone 6 or 4 manager!!
Villan444
fair enough Fear, I still rate him highly as a manager, and one that could certainly work well in the modern economic climate, give the man a chance to eat his words :P

I'm so glad Moyes has come out and reaffirmed his desire to stay with Everton. As for Villa, I wouldn't want Sven, Curbishley or Southgate near the team. If I was a Villa fan I'd go for Jol or Klinsmann. I'm not sure why Bob Bradley would be one of the favourites, apart the fact he's a Yank like Lerner.
Chuckmeister_EFC
Why wouldn't we want Sven ? I know he was not great at the England job, but Lazio before that ? And most Manc fans were fuming at the time Shinawatra sacked him, I also thought he was doing pretty well at Citeh. I suppose the question is who's the best we can really hope for ? Jol or Sven would do a good job. Forget Bradley, Curbs and especially Southgate - purleeease. Totally unsurprised Moyes won't quit Everton for us, they're a solid side and he's cemented himself as one of their best managers of recent times, why would he move sideways ?
