Luke Young staying at Villa?

Luke Young staying at Villa?

It's a fact Luke and Martin never got on, this was the only reason that he was determined to leave this year; because would never play him! But now Martin has gone, and remember what Luke Young said, "I've been fighting for my position but it never seems as if it's been a fair fight.

"I don't want to leave Aston Villa because it's a great club, but I don't know what more I've got to do to get into the team. I feel fitter than I've ever felt, I'm in the shape of my life, and I think my form has been good whenever I have played.

"I'm always as professional as possible when I train. Other than the Chelsea game, when the whole team had a nightmare including me, I think I can hold my head up high about all of my performances. It just seems that however hard I work in training or however well I do in games that I don't get judged by the same standards as some players."

Luke Young now surely has a future at Villa Park! Thank god! Time to get Curtis Davies, Luke Young and Nigel Reo-Coker back in from the cold and get them playing more! Luke Young is one of the best right backs in the Premier League, we have no need to sell him, I'm sure just glad he didn't join Fulham or Liverpool yet.

I think we should remember that Davies played with one shoulder for a few months. He put his body on the line for Villa. Naturally his performances suffered during this time, but how could they not? I think that Cuellar and Dunne are our strongest pairing at centreback, but I hope that Davies gets his fair share of game time. As for Luke Young, he's England's best right-back. He's played at a consistently high level for Villa and is of excellent character. His wages might be a little high and his contract too long, but that's hardly his fault. I hope that he plays for Villa as long as his performances warrant.

He's not as good as many of our fans seem to think he is, but I would still be delighted to see him stay. The amount of home games where teams defend deep and we have no natural attacking threat from our right full-back (through no fault of Cuellar's, may I add. It's not like it's his natural position, is it?) when the full-back positions get so much of the ball in this country, has been frustrating to put it mildly. Go on Luke, stick around fella.

Un-related to topic but just read on both Sky and ESPN what the General has said and i back him. Also says the club and Randy will make a statement....looking forward to that

Really hope he does stay, his first season with us was immense and is so much more of a right back than Cuellar. Same goes NRC, he's had a decent pre-season and to me I think he is better than Petrov who I don't really rate

Yeah, brilliant. I hope he stays and I hope he's our starting right-back on Saturday. I also hope NRC and Davies stay and get a chance aswell.

At least now, we may see some kind of rotation that we have been promised, something our first 11 really needed the last few seasons.
