Non Manager News - Albie Up For U21 Debut

Phew finally found something that has naff all to do with Martin O'Neill. Marc Albrighton is hoping to make his England U21 debut tonight.

Speaking on the Official Site Marc Albrighton revealed he was well up for his potential debut for the England U21's tonight against Uzbekistan and if given the chance by Stuart Pearce he is hoping he can carry his sparkling pre season form into the game and make a real impression.

England turn out at Ashton Gate (Bristol City) at 7.30pm and those with some internet nouse will be able to watch the game and see how he gets on.

'It is a great honour if you are representing your country at any level at any sport. So to be called up in the under-19s, under-20s and now under-21s, I'm really pleased about that.'

Good luck Albie, we'll all be rooting for you!

Albie on for about 20 minutes, debut secured!

Looked very bright at points, got involved, didn't seem overawed or anything like that Callum. I do think I saw him miss an open goal sadly, he got the volley wrong slightly stretching, but I only had it on in the background and caught the very end of the replay. All in a decent 20 minute debut, but he'd definitely be looking at making more of an impact -although that's probably stating the obvious lol

The ball that came in for his open goal was travelling at the speed of light so he did well to get a touch .. He played well and chased one lost cause and amazingly won the ball and set up another attacking move .. I was proud of the lad .
