Shorey Completes Medical At Baggies

Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that Nicky Shorey has successfully passed his medical at West Brom and should be joining within 48 hours.

Speaking on the WBA Official Site Di Matteo said:

'Nicky has completed a medical and we are hopeful he will become one of our players over the next 48 hours.'

Hardly likely to fall down now, Shorey wanted a Premiership team much to the annoyance of Billy Davies at Forest, and it's obviously a fee (rumoured £3 million) that we think is appropriate for him given he's hardly likely to figure this season again.

With transfers out on the increase, hopefully it means we aren't far off completing some transfers in!

3 million? that's really good sale for a player we were unlikely to play. Good luck to him.

£3m my backside. The fee will be undisclosed, but if it's anywhere north of £1m I'll be staggered. West Brom would be mad to pay anything more for a guy who was out on loan last season, who has been publicly put up for sale, and who we are desperate to get off the wage bill. Even if he was worth £4m two years ago as a 27 year old, £3m for a 29 year old would be dear.

I'd say he's worth way more than a million, but you're probably not far off, if you take into account the payoff we've almost certainly had to give him to take the drop in wages.

Thank you 144wittonlane. Cheque's in the post ;-)

I think £3m would be a good bit of business for all concerned, as all in all he's a fairly tidy player. Warnock is much better however
