Transfer Rumours - McGeedy Yes/No + Ash Young

Well, it seems we have a deal... no we don't... yes we do. All depends on which paper you read I guess! Also, must say, on this one I'm not in the slightest bit bothered as I know little to nothing about the player in question.

There are two reports, on in the Scotsman and the other in The Herald saying that Villa will not be signing Aiden McGeady.

Hey ho!

Thread on the young Celtic winger: Click Here (forums contain more adult language..!)

Do we need a winger? That might be one of the reasons why Villa's 'interest' has cooled? Marc Albrighton looks the real deal, then we have Ashley Young and Stewart Downing.

Anyway, the report in the Scotsman has a Villa 'source'... ahem... saying: 'We'd love to have done a deal but it's just not possible at this time,'

Not sure anyone who would actually be involved in the targeting and purchasing of such a player would tell a pressman that sort of thing to be honest! This is a new Aston Villa, I used to know who was coming in with no problem just talking to the all too willing to spill the beans staff in the previous regime. This regime is more professional (shame because I used to like the gossip LOL) and even the managers in different departments don't get the inside gossip these days)

I digress... which to be honest, might be because there isn't a fat lot to say on transfers today... either that or I'm just biding time before my roast beef dinner.

It appears Spartak Moscow will now be the destination for McGeady.

The Daily Express meanwhile have a report saying that Villa will move for Aiden once the James Milner deal is done!

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been mentioned again. Hmmm, nice thought.

I am still pretty sure we'll get Robbie Keane in the next week or two. Just a feeling in my bones.... or is that arthritis? Wonder if they would do a buy one get one free offer? We could go for Peter Crouch as well then.

Aidan Magee at The News of the World are suggesting that Spurs will come in strong for Ashley Young.

I really doubt this one. I'm not saying the player might not like a return to London or the chance of Champions League football but I don't think Spurs would pay the sort of fee that Villa would demand. The paper suggests that Young has indicated that he would like a move to White Hart Lane ... it is a whisper amongst some of the press people I must say ... but his wages at Villa apparently would be near the top wage limit for Spurs and so they'd have to break that in order to attract the winger.

The report claims Spurs tried twice last summer, first with a £19m and then a £21m bid for him and that the clubs will agree a similar fee this time. I just don't believe that. I can't see Young being rated at anything less than Milner is, so nearly £30million and there are already rumours in the press that MON would walk if Ash was sold from under him UNLESS he agreed to it.

Unless the player slaps in a transfer request, I can't see there being anything in this.

Links in? Not really no! This week, this week, this WILL BE the week!

Oh and the strong rumours are - not that it is a stretch of the imagination I'll admit - that the Milner deal is done, paperwork is being done and that Stephen Ireland will be moving in the opposite direction.

One I heard last week, with little (well actually no) detail was we'd bid for Craig Bellamy.

Well if MON is in for mcgeady, this strikes me that ash will be playing behind gabby and huntelaar(i wish).

If Spurs had bid for Young or were gonna bid for him, we would know about it, motormouth Redface doesnt know when to stop talking about other teams players.
