Valencia Injury Update

Martin O'Neill has explained the injuries surrounding those who missed last night's only home friendly of the season.

Speaking on the Official Site

following our 0-0 draw with the Spanish giants O'Neill explained that Gabby and Cuellar (who we already knew about) missed the game because of hamstring troubles.

Curtis Davies is still struggling with his knee injury that saw him leave the Benfica match with the runners up trophy on crutches - quite why a fit player couldn't collect it and let him rest will go down in history as one of those unanswered questions like why are we here.

James Collins is also still suffering from his calf problem and James Milner apparently has one of those back injuries that Doctors describe as 'movetomancityitus'.

Enough of my rambling, and onto O'Neill's.

'Gabby has had a stop start pre season. He's been able to do some training, yet when the games have come up it has caused him a bit of a problem. He trained this morning (yesterday) but he said his hamstrings were sore, which might be a reaction from the back.'

O'Neill adds he is very keen to play especially as he has a shot at the England team but O'Neill decided not to risk him.

The Curtis Davies situation is better than expected however.

'It's a shorter time frame, let me put it that way so that's good news. We thought at one stage it might be months but it's a matter of a couple of weeks.'

That's about the lot.

Collins and Cuellar are seriously doubtful for Wet Spam, but O'Neill is pleased Clarkie stepped in so well.
