Who Have Villa Missed In Transfer Window? (None!?)

Ok, so it is panic stations in the transfer window - )and before some get on the theme that only Aston Villa fans moan, trust me, running this network, I see comments from all clubs and most fans are the same) -

So during the panic, who exactly have we missed out on so far?

I've counted PL club in and out only.

Adel Taarabt [Tottenham - QPR] Undisclosed
Tal Ben Haim [Portsmouth - West Ham] Loan
Marco Alonso [Real Madrid - Bolton] Undisclosed
Lukas Jutkiewicz [Everton - Coventry] Undisclosed
Aleksandar Kolarov [Lazio - Manchester City] £16m
Titus Bramble [Wigan - Sunderland] Undisclosed
Eduardo [Arsenal - Shakhtar Donetsk] Undisclosed
Danny Wilson [Rangers - Liverpool] Undisclosed
Artur Boruc [Celtic - Fiorentina] Undisclosed
David Silva [Valencia - Manchester City] £24m
Kris Boyd [unattached - Middlesbrough] Free
Yossi Benayoun [Liverpool - Chelsea] Undisclosed
Martin Petrov [Manchester City-Bolton]
Steven Mouyokolo [Hull - Wolves] Undisclosed
Zoran Tosic [Manchester Utd - CSKA Moscow] Undisclosed
Philippe Senderos [Arsenal - Fulham] Free
Jermaine Beckford [unattached - Everton]
Steven Reid [Blackburn - West Brom] Free
Ben Foster [Man Utd - Birmingham] Undisclosed
Gabriel Tamas [Auxerre - West Brom] Undisclosed

So some of the Manchester City players would have been good. Sorry, we can't compete with them and pretty much no other team in the world can either.

Who else? Just wondering!

didnt know Celtic were in the PL...when did that happen?

I think petrov and benayoun would have been very good aditions. Bolton have got an excellent deal in petrov. And if chelsea had not of gone in for benayoun he would of been a great signing.

Have to agree with Beckford, what about Danny Gosling of Everton or did i dream that one? As for Eduardo, Benayoun, Joe Cole and the ex Man Ci$y players would we have been able to match the wages ..... seems to be the problem of if we get Stephen Ireland or not .... Money talks .... Man City are ruining the game .... they will have trouble moving on any of their players ... thats why its likely we could go for loans on Richards, Hart or Johnson. But i doubt that will happen as Randy wants to keep our wage bill down - despite weve still one of the smallest squads in the PL. Unfortunetly i dont think our 2nd 11 are good enough to compete in europe again so its an early exit for me again.

Does nobody have an opinion on Danny Gosling ?... or was i thinking of a different Everton player that they have let go that i think will be like another Gary Cahill ?
06/08/2010 17:10:00
Nobody to be honest,Beckford would have been a gamble but a risk worth taking, loads of time yet, normally the last week for us so no worries yet.Once Milner has been sorted we will go.

jasevilla - still frustrating though eh ?

Gosling like Gary Cahill??? Don't think he has what it takes to make an impact in the PL. Moyes would have given him a chance if he was good enough and after a long lay of...

Petrov wouldn't of been a bad signing, but we already have 2 LM. I wouldn't have mind Benayoun, and Ben Foster wouldn't have been bad either but the timing probably was not right for that one. Having said all that i still have complete faith in MON's signings that he will no doubt make, even if i am in the minority. I think everyone is mistaken their own inpatients and excitement and turning it into hatred for MON. I'd like to see MON transfer hit and miss ratio put up against every other manager in the PL, now that would be interesting and i doubt it would be anywhere near as bad as some of our disgruntled supporters might think.

"I wouldn't have minded Benayoun". Neither would I, but Chelsea wanted him and we therefore have zero chance. If we're discussing possible transfer targets, shouldn't we remain realistic? :o)

I'm just curious, what is the fascination with Stephen Ireland? We could do with a Centre Mid, regardless of the Milner situation, but is Ireland really the one? I'm also surprised with the amount of people bringing up Beckford's name but not Eduardo...slim chance of getting him admittedly (even slimmer now), but an approach would have been interesting. I personally hope MON is looking outsode the British Isles as well
