AVFC Transfer News... Things Hotting Up?

The Daily Star have picked up on the Nicky Shorey to WBA. They say around 1.5million for the 29-year-old left-back whereas other reports and whispers suggest 2million. This report also says he is prepared to take a pay cut just to be back playing.

Another report has returned to an old (and exciting) link. This report says that Villa, along with Spurs, Liverpool, Monaco and Bayern Munich, are after 26-year-old AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

James Nursey at The Mirror has an Aiden McGeady exclusive. The report says that we are about to finally get the James Milner deal done and that Stephen Ireland will move in the opposite direction (so around 20m + the player).

The next part of the report says that Aiden McGeady is still a 10million target. The whispers yesterday was that he would sign for Spartak Moscow but Villa are keen and prepared to offer Shorey + cash.

James also says that part of the money will be spent on Robbie Keane and repeats the rumour that Spurs want Ashley Young. They can't have him!

Huntelaar, Keane, McGeady, no thank you. Over-rated, past it and not good enough respectively. So, typical Villa transfer targets then.

If you don't hurry up and sell us Milner you will miss out on all your targets as Randy just hasn't got the dosh and your excellent manager will have to do with the scraps again for another season.

Willy 'scraps again for another season' We have spent 30-40m the last two seasons so thats hardly scraps we just dont spend ridiculous amount of money which would put us in debt.

Yeah, that's spot on Albie - we should go for the sort of exciting players Pompey used to go for, and we all used to moan about not getting. Then we can join them on the high court bench ...

Keane & Huntelaar over-rated! Whatever chap, have you been sniffing the sherry again?

Albarnista can you tell me who would you like to villa to sign with a minimum budget? Keane i can agree is past it, Mcgeardy i am unsure about but Huntelaar how is he past it? One of the best if not the best strike rate at Ajax went to madrid and still had a good goals for games ratio even though he didn't play and then when at Ac Milan he just hasn't hit form, There is alot more to come from him he would be fantastic for us and that bit of quality we need but O'neil wont sign anyone like that.

I as a Villa support and what I've been through this month, would be thrilled to sign any of these players. Its good that we are being linked with some players as it kinda shows that we are going after a few players or at least interested

3Wetwillys or whatever your name is...only kidding...all the best but your preseason form is terrible, it'll take the season to get your guys familiarwith each other and buy all of Hughes' players off.....then and only then will you have a chance at winning big things. As long as you stuff Spurs and the Birmingham City lot I dont care who you buy or how much money you Mancini for the chop if you lose more than 4 games....thats my personal bet with you.

Adam Deuce, you understood what I was saying, so nothing to fear there! I stand by my opinion. I would much rather us stick with Gabby and Carew as first choice, and Delfouneso coming in for one or other of them on a regular basis than us sign either Huntelaar or Keane for big money and pay them big wages.

koolbill - you are totally right about pre-season, which has been a shambles and most of the new signings have hardly played and there has been no chance of geting them to gel together plus Mancini has beenaway due to family illness. So it doesn't auger well for our bogey team Spurs - yep if he doesn't get some early success he could be for the chop but who would replace him ? - our ex-player O'Neill...maybe!!!
