Albrighton Rewarded With U21 Call Up

Marc Albrighton's sterling pre season form for Villa as well as his reputation as a star in the making has seen him rewarded with a call up by Stuart Pearce.

Marc has been in impressive form during our pre season campaign and has certainly Martin O'Neill something to think about as we near the Wet Spam league opener, but for his England potential more importantly his form has tipped Stuart Pearce's hand for the U21 Uzbekistan clash next Tuesday.

Speaking on the Official Site Pearce said he had been very impressed with Albrighton's progress last season and given his form so far this season he more than deserves his first ever call up to the U21's.

'I caught Marc at the end of last season and Steve Wrigley saw him again this season and he's done extremely well on both occasions.'

Pearce has no doubts that Albrighton will slot right in given his performances with the younger age groups as he's developed.

England squad in full: Frankie Fielding (Blackburn), Alex McCarthy (Reading); Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Phil Jones (Blackburn), Martin Kelly (Liverpool), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham); Marc Albrighton (Villa), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Victor Moses (Wigan), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham); Andy Carroll (Newcastle), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Danny Wellbeck (Manchester United).

Albrighton is one of four debutants in the squad, and you wonder how many more Villan's will join him as the season progresses.

Looks like a pretty decent team. Good luck to Albrighton, hopefully we'll see him starting some games this season

Well Done Albrighton, great to see. No Fonz though. I think that Henderson from Sunderland is absolute class too. I wish he was at villa

All the papers singled out Fonz as the stand out from under 19s tournament so if he has been omitted the only reason i can think for is England senior Duty.
