Six Teenage Villans Called Up For National Trials

Six of our teenage lads have been picked to impress the England coaches after being called up for the National trials.

Speaking on the Official Site Bryan Jones our Academy Chief said he was absolutely delighted and that so many lads were included in the 40 strong U16 party.

Defenders Joshua Webb, Bradley Lewis and Oliver Stevenson, midfielders Charlie Ward, Jordan Graham and Jack Grealish will all be involved in the trials at Burton later this month and former Villa boy Kenny Swain (now England U16 head coach) will be running his eye over all them for this season's international matches, including the Victory Shield tournament were England face all the other home nations.

We all know how good our Academy has been with the talent we bring through into the first team, and even when it doesn't work out at B6 many of them go onto good careers at other clubs and Jones thinks this generation have already proven themselves to be 'outstanding' at this level, so there could well be some names to remember for the future here.

'I'm absolutely delighted, I don't think it has ever been known before for one club to provide so many from one age group in an international set up. Also in this team, Ummit Eminoglu is a Turkish international.'

It's not just the U16's that give the Academy reason to be cheerful.

'We also have Bradley Watkins, who is an England U17 goalkeeper.'

Then step up again and we have Benjamin Siegrist, the U18 now I believe, Swiss goalkeeper who holds the U17 World Cup Golden Glove award.

Good to see the Academy is living up to it's reputation with the new batch.

It all makes Villa an exciting proposition going forward five to ten years. Either home grown first team players or sale value.

Yeah all good, we can look forward to the start of every season where a top club attempts to distabalise the Villa by tempting a star player away. Let me see Milner this yera Ashley Young next year, the Fonz in 2012 and so on.

Thats ok as long as we get a bit of cash so we can do the same to someother club.
