Would You Swap Ashley Young For Trio? - Poll

We recently asked whether you would swap Ashley Young for Spurs trio - Jermain Jenas, David Bentley and Robbie Keane.

And we have a result!

79% said - 'No sir, I would not'

21% said - 'Yes, I sure would!'

Well good news (for 79% of you), it isn't going to happen anyway, its what they call papertalk.

Jermain Jenas seems to be Spurs' very own Nigel Reo-Coker, as in half the fans like him and half don't.

David Bentley was once a very talented winger, and no doubt that player is still in there somewhere but he has struggled to make the same impact at Spurs that he did at Blackburn Rovers, perhaps not helped by Aaron Lennon's form at White Hart Lane.

And Robbie Keane much like Bentley has not been able to force his way into Harry Redknapp's side all that often. He did have a good loan spell at Celtic and although many believe he has lost it, I don't think he has as its hard to look as though you have lost it when no-one has seen you play regularly for a long time. Keane needs a move to re-establish himself as the top striker we all know he was and to return to the sort of form that earnt him a move to Anfield and granted he didn't make much of an impact there either but he wasn't given much time to settle in before being shipped out.

I would like to see Keane at Villa, and wouldn't mind the other two just to give us some more options, but I don't want to see Ashley Young go or any of our first eleven for that matter.

50% of spurs fans like Jenas? you clearly have not done a poll there...i think you should take the 0 off there. I find this one hard to believe happening, but I think Villa would get by far the better of the deal if it happened...there are 4 players who blow hot and cold here, well Jenus gets to warm and freezing....but at least villa get three to cover if one or two get injured....

Ashley is a great player but he is not worth 3 players. Ridiculous speculation. Never gonna happen!!

Ashley Young is NOT a great player, yes he is a good, possibly very good player but not great, Messi, Rooney and Ronaldo are great players. Agree with Albarista, I would not pay more than 3 mill for Keane, because i think he is way past his best, his legs look shot to me at the highest level. Spurs fan here and this deal seems stupid all round to me.
tophobunty
Slight correcting. 95% of spurs fans don't like Jenas now. Even those who liked him have had to admit he's dump now. Saying that I don't see that Young, although I think he'd be a good addition, is worth all 3 of players. Dan Jones is right, this is just more paper talk.

I see we have signed up FIAT!!...now theres an injury prone case if ever I have seen one!!!...Fix It Again Trevor!!

Modric is the only spurs player that is skillful. The others are over rated and over paid...just like about 99% of all premier league players...that the state of the game at the moment..totally boring!!
Steve64k
Bentley needs to go to Liverpool as I believe Hodgson would be able to get the best out of him again. Maybe they should give us Lennon instead of Bentley, then it myt b worth it

Huddsnewsnarl, no evidence of selling to buy at villa so far. 15million aparently available to buy according to quotes from the chairman, yet haven't seen him say sell to buy. Ashley Young is quoted as saying he wants a new deal. So 2 of our best 11? Yeah maybe so, but no evidence as yet to suggest its going to be Milner or Young as you suggest, only paper talk suggesting it at the moment.
young_jonah
I don't think any Villa player would get in the Spurs team! They could make bence but only James "meal ticket" Milner and Young but would not be sad if we didn't get any of them! Our squad is fine just need a Prolific goalscorer maybe Villa can gives us Gabby,Carew,Delefonso,Heskey and Harewood we might get 20 out of all of them but doubt it!

The fact Spurs fan are coming on here at all provides evidence that they still consider us rivals despite the fact they are now CL and we are Europa. Guess they will be too in a few weeks.......
young_jonah
P.Avfc, fair enough though to be honest, and I am fair from a cocky spurs fan (we've had egg on our faces far too often to risk being cocky though some still are) those two games agaisnt you lot last year really did annoy me. They should have been exciting games and we were close rivals for 4th spot but you approach both games as if we were Chelsea or United and for that reason I'd actually have rather seen City make 4th if we hadn't. Yes, depending on formation I would have a couple of your players but only a couple.
MJBSpur
young_jonah, spurs fans are coming on here because we are being linked with your players. I won't comment on the CL slight you made cause I know as well as anyone that we've still got to make it through a potentally tough qualifier.
MJBSpur
Bahama-joe, 1 up front? We wish, we are brilliant with 1 on his own but O'Neill insists on a rigid 4-4-2 with the long ball deployed. But you a right, it is boring!
young_jonah
re the new poll... we'll finish 6th. It's what we do :-)

Pretty convincing result for the 'No sir, I would not' brigade, of which I am one I hasten to add. Jermain Jenas is one individual that I wouldn't care to see within a million miles of a claret and blue shirt, just dont rate the guy at all I'm afraid. David Bentley and Robbie Keane, yes I'd welcome both or either to beautiful Brummagem B6, but not as any part of a transaction that saw Ashley Young head off in the opposite direction. After Gareth Barry last summer, and in all probability, James Milner this, it would be nice to hold onto our star performers from here on in, and start adding to and improving the squad, as opposed to selling to raise cash to finance new deals, or in this hypothetical instance, swopping Ash to bring in two others.
glensider
We spent the money from them sales and more! just face it another grim in the midlands! Oh well at least the brum are trying!
Bahama-joe
Lennon has twice the pace but quarter the skill of Young and don't see therefore how our Ash would fit into spuds long ball game anyway. Surely Heskey would be better for them as back up to Crouchie
