Bannan To Improve Pre Season

Barry Bannan has admitted that he didn't take his chances 12 months ago during Villa's pre season, and that's not a mistake he will be making this time round.

The wee Bannan has been brutally honest about his performances in pre season last year and likes to think he's already made more of an impression on the manager in the games we've seen him in so far.

Speaking to the Express and Star the Scot said:

'Last pre season was quite poor from me. I had my chances and I didn't really take them. I was stuck in the reserves so to go to Blackpool was brilliant for my education.'

Bannan has already got some game time against Bohemians and Walsall and in his own words he thinks he did 'alright' but he's certainly starting to stand out during games now, not being afraid to shoot (and coming quite close) with 35 yd volleys does improve your press and getting more involved in the simple stuff aswell.

We all know the lad has potential, he's been on the radar of those that follow the reserves for a couple of seasons and he did well during his spell at Blackpool so it's nice to see him really making a shot for the first team now.

Hopefully he'll get a shot in tonight's game against Benfica and he'll be as impressive as Marc Albrighton has been so far, although to be fair Albie does have one advantage...

'It's been great out here but Scottish people can't handle the sunlight. I put factor 30 or 40 on and my nose was still red!'

Bannan has been honest and that is pretty modest from his side. He will get his chance, weather its pre-season or on loan. Hope he starts tonight or gets a chance

Bannan will be a good player, i would like to see him play central i dont know why i feel he would be good there. I must say i cant see him getting into the first team, only albrighton and delfouesno and obviously delph are capable i think so the best thing for him to do is go out on loan.

I would like him to join Blackpool on loan this season. I think that we could all see more of him at Blackpool and that is the team which he joined on loan last season
