Forest Still An Option For Shorey

Forest manager Billy Davies has said he is still interested in taking Shorey if his Premiership aim fails.

Speaking to the local press Davies insisted that a left back was a priority for the club and he is determined to strengthen the team overall so they could improve on last season's final position.

Shorey was well received whilst on loan at the City Ground and Davies has long been interested in securing his services permanently but Nicky himself has hopes of securing a move to another Premiership team.

His loan spell at Fulham many believed included an option for a permanent move but with Roy Hodgson moving to Liverpool it's unclear if Fulham will now be taking up that option or furthering their own interest.

Quoted in the Nottingham Evening Post Davies said:

'If Nicky does not get a Premier League club and there is a possibility that we can do something, either on loan or permanently, then until that door closes on us, he remains an option.'

Who's Nicky Shorey?

Well as things stand right now, how can we even contemplate allowing Nicky Shorey to leave Villa Park? Freddie Bouma is no more, O'Halloran is off to try his luck at Coventry City, Luke Young is seemingly on the verge of moving elsewhere. The only specialist full backs we have are Stephen Warnock and the untried and untested Eric Lichaj, who to be brutally honest, hasn't impressed me at all on the times I've seen him play. Yes, we can go ahead and offload Shorey, as O'Neill seemingly wants to do, but its going to take more money to replace him, than we'll ever receive from the buying club. With money in such short supply, how do we propose to handle that?

We should buy Wayne Bridge - he's seemingly happy to sit on the bench....

I had forgotten Habib Beye, thanks AVGD. Even so though, we're trying to move him out of the door, so including his name in our full back count probably isn't appropriate. Oh well, in Mart we trust, I suppose.
