What If We Had No New Signings?

What If We Had No New Signings?

This may be a pretty bad idea for an article but I was just thinking lately. What if we didn't sign anyone? It won't be a very good thing at all or would it?

In pre-season we haven't been looking all too impressive but of course Warnock, Heskey and Milner are now all back, but they won't feature against Walsall.

The formation that I think would be interesting for this season is a 4-4-1-1 formation with A. Young on a free role and Agbonlahor upfront. Our midfield will look different however and if Milner does stay then I suggest that he continues to play in centre and Reo-Coker play on the right. He has played there before and I believe that he did a great job on the right against Tottenham a few seasons' ago.

Now I haven't based this whole article of our same squad as last year. I think that almost all Villa fans believe that Milner will move to Man City. If this is the case then I think that we will get Ireland or buy Flamini.

But for instance if we didn't sign anyone else apart from that player? I also think that we could give our youngster's a go in the Premier League. Albrighton, Delfouneso, Delph and Lichaj. May sound like a crazy idea but I think that we could have more of a exciting team if we changed our formation and introduced more of our younger players. Our younger players could be our new signings in my opinion.

This would not only save money but also give us more cash for January and next season. We have always lacked quality towards the end of the season and if we brought in more players in January then we would finish of stronger and not suffer as many defeats.

was a good article _villa_, thanks for the submission, always appreciated and at least the way we are set up, the decent youth players should get a chance as opposed to blowing them out of the water with signing after signing £££

Oh come on, I was being slightly sarcastic...but let's look at the evidence - last season we sold our best player, and this season it looks like we'll be doing the same. Regardless of whether it's good business and who we get as part exchange what does it say to players that we're trying to get in - Huntelaar etc - that we sell our best player every season! Spurs wouldn't sell Modric, Everton wouldn't sell Cahill. Of course I realise that player power is everything nowadays and that if Milner wants to go to bloody Citeh he will go. Which raises the question of why these players want to leave - money? No, I simply don't believe Barry or Milner are money players, so it must be ambition. Milner must simply believe that from what he's seen, MON and Randy aren't going to push on, start signing big names and start challenging. He must believe that it'll be 6th, 6th, 6th, 6th, 6th, 6th etc. I dunno, of course there's loads of time for us to start signing some players, and of course regardless of who's in our starting 11 come first day I'll be singing my heart out...I'm just saying that we need to face the facts - we haven't got the necessary ambition (club not fans) that needs to be emitted to players like James Milner in order to get them to stay. On a slightly different note, where the hell is Milner going to play for them?! Check out this link on SS showing their two Citeh 11s...even Ireland doesn't get a look in either! And Robinho's in the 2nd team! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_6280116,00.html
