Club Statement On Milner

Club Statement On Milner

Should have waited 5 mins, here's the statement.

The statement on the Official Site confirms that Milner trained with the rest of the squad today and met with the manager.

'He and the manager, along with chief executive Paul Faulkner and the player's representative, Matthew Buck, had an amicable conversations and, while James will not play in tomorrow's game at Walsall, he will fly with the squad to Portugal on Wednesday ahead of the Guadiana Cup in which Villa will compete with Benfica and Feyenoord this weekend.'

Short, sweet, to the point and absolutely nobody is any clearer - but that won't stop the guesswork or the rumours which I'd have thought was kind of the point of making a statement?

What do I know.

I'll take any clarity i can get at the moment. All the speculation is just giving me a headache.

from Sky Sports, succint, but i think it pretty well sums the situation up! "The ex-Newcastle and Leeds man is believed to want a move to City, but until they match Villa's asking price he will stay at the club."

how do you lot feel about him goin for £25-30mil, I think its a great deal and help you re-shape an already talented squad. £30mil Id drive him there myself!

And then don't worry about it, just do it. Nike, you can pay me later : )

Off topic, but whoever came on VS yesterday to give us the goods on that tool RealityChecker, thank you. And a heartfelt apology for saying things about Villa I didn't mean, in the heat of the moment.

I don't honestly understand some of these players, why would anyone want to go to City? Surely players have more ambition than just a big paycheck! He's a good player and well on his way to becoming an excellent top drawer midfielder but how many good players have gone there on big money and rotted? He's better off staying at Villa playing week in week out for a team that work hard and play for eachother, he can continue working on his game and improve consistently as he has done in the role that he prefers (centrally) rather than warming a bench in a rotating squad with a bunch of mercenaries... madness!! Mind you, if I was MON/Lerner and i could secure £30m for him i think i'd take it, he's not irreplaceable and MON would work wonders with £30m to shop with! Good luck next season.

SSN described it as a statement to Man City. By saying that he will travel to Portugal, we are telling them that he will be available until next week and then he will be away for a week and will start to prepare for our season. Id take 24mil for him, gutted he is going more coz he hasn't shown any loyalty whatsoever to the club that helped him make the plane for south africa. I think Ireland could fill his boots

I think its MON`s "cunning plan" to make sure he gets the price he wants. 30 M or near enough. Otherwise we will keep him. And I am sure Milner will give his all whoever he plays for because he is a career minded profesional! This can only be a win win situation for us, just need to keep our cool like Martin is! *thumbsup*

yes fifthcolumnblue...think if it goes on to much longer though we will be worse off for it...lookin at your squad Milner is a nice to have but not pivotal to your season so you can afford to play hardball with us till the last minute & if he does not go it will not effect you....where as we need it resolved now so we can either get in a replacement, with cash for other players or go into the season with a player who still wants to leave ala barry...which means he would go for a lot cheaper next year even though I still think he would give his all for the season with us, ala barry...think we should put a deadline on it & say to your guys it happens by this date or we all move either way we can get on with whatever squad building we can...I feel that if he wants to go we should cash in now while his stock is high...he defo wants to move or why not just come out & say he is happy at villa...I am glad that we do not just get rolled over anymore by clubs though, but feel that in the best interests of the club that if he wants to go we make it happen...if not just cash a player, especially now you have to trim your squad by a few...

I am losing interest in football as a whole...the world cup was at best sterile and this saga is as boring as bat *****. Milner is just a runner for heavens sake!!...He looked good in a midfield that was captained by Petrov!!...I'd be happy with 20 mil...but I'm so over all of this and the season hasn't even started yet!!
