Villa Boss Hints at McGeady Transfer?

As rumours of James Milner`s imminent departure grow Martin O`Neill has been somewhat open with his praise for Celtic midfielder Aiden McGeady, and interestingly, mentioned a sell-to-buy policy at Villa Park.

The Villa manager has admitted in press interviews during the clubs pre-season trip to Ireland that Jimmy Milner has 'intimated` that he wishes to leave the club for money-bags FC, Manchester Citeh.

During the same interviews, he has been singing the praises of the 24 year old Scottish midfielder McGeady, who broke into O`Neill`s Celtic squad as a youngster and Monny full believes that the Scottish born, Irish international could make it within the English Premier League as he doth warbled!

'I think Aiden McGeady has the ability to play in the Premier League, without question,'

'I had him as a kid at Celtic and played him without worrying too much about his youth.

'He played against AC Milan one night in the Champions League at Celtic Park and he was absolutely fantastic.'

With Spartak Moscow circling over the Celtic star, O`Neill was as usually relatively obstructive when quizzed on names-in to Villa Park, whilst names-out are so popularly discussed, with one very alarming quote:

'We have been linked with an awful lot of players and I would expect that because we are a top quality Premier League side."

'There's no point in me mentioning names but, without wanting to lose players of the calibre of Milner, we would want to try to recruit some players.

'But, as the chairman said at the back end of last season, it's probably going to be a case of having to sell to buy and that's something I'm delving into at the moment.'

Brilliant.

Aiden McGeady wow what a exciting player from the great scottish football. His that the best MON can do.

Shaneblack...... Did Henrik Larsson not play in the scottish league for 7 years?. Then go on to win 2 titles with Barca and a champions league winners medal and also an English premiership title(best league in the world!!!!!!! AYE RIGHT!) with Man Utd?. Aiden Mcgeady is top drawer and probably has about 25 champions league appearances in his pocket. your ignorance of this player knows no bounds and while the SPL isnt fantastic there are still some top quality players. ps I believe your club captain Stan Petrov played up there for 5 years also........ You total helmet

I think that he will do well... but at least this proves that MON isn't just sitting around and watching everyone else. He is probably waiting for a sale to begin signing new players. McGeady, Keane, Ireland will come as Milner leaves for Man. City soon

Murf67 dont forget Carlos Cuellar. I hope this will not happen, I have seen a lot of him at Celtic and for Ireland and never really been impressed. He always seems to lack confidence in his team mates and is never willing to pass the ball instead keeping it and trying to dribble through the opposition and more often than not giving it away needlessly.

Unlike Mart to wax lyrical about a player contracted to another club, so it does make you wonder whether McGeady is one of a number of players on Mart's radar. Personally I know nothing about McGeady, he's just a name to me, but I have to admit that I've heard and read contrasting views about him. Oh well, in Mart we trust. If he decides that McGeady can thrive and prosper in the premier league, and we can get him at the right price, then lets give the guy a chance.

We are seriously fooooooooo-ked. No money?

henrik larsson, people keep mentioning him lol thats like saying zidane played for the alegerian league. cueller over priced, mcgreedy waste of space and petrov is ok. in reference to the scotish league it aint exactly a place where people should spend 10 million pounds. i think martin oneil was a god when he came to us. and more and more i ma getiing disillusioned. ok 6th and doing well in the cups aint that brilliant when u see how much he has spent. why is he so obsessed with british, scotish and irish players who r overpirced. go for ireland if you really have to go for some1 within a 500 mile radius

Ho hum, end of the season we were all deflated with the boys running out of steam and now we're being told that there's no money...anyone worried....looks like we are going to have to sell to buy or loan out players or at the very least not let potentially very good players like Davies leave just for the sake of saving 12 months wages. We must hope MoN is doing his best with no money but I DON'T believe we have a buy to sell policy...I believe this is a make or break season and Lerner is simply doing what Abramovich did to Mourinho in his last season - tightening the purse strings before saying goodbye. Fact is, we need ManC money just to try and have a decent season but now the cat is out of the bag then HOW can any player want to come here? Sure, they'll come for MoNs inate ability to get players noticed by Capello but will that be enough?

I wish Villa would stop buggeing about and just sign these players instead of going around the houses on every occasion...
col8
well...if we get him and he turns out rubbish we could easily put delph or Albrighton in.
Avfc94 we do
Sell Milner, buy keane, happy days!!!!!!!
