Aston Villa Transfer Talk And Rumours

Most of the rumours in the last few days have been about Robbie Keane. One last week said he had been at Bodymoor Heath, apparently the place wasn't even open on the day Keano was meant to be there! Yesterday he was set to sign, shame then he is still in the USA with Spurs! lol

The Mirror say Villa will bid 10million for Celtic and Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady, a link that seems to keep cropping up. He has been left out of Celtic's pre-season tour as he looks set to leave.

Former Villa striker Marlon Harewood, who is now a free agent, was linked yesterday to David O'Dearme's new team Al Ahli, today apparently Rangers want him on a two year deal.

Sky have a quote from the agent of Fiorentina keeper Sebastien Frey distancing himself from links to Villa. Giovanni Branchini told violanews.com: 'Aston Villa has never spoken with Fiorentina for Frey.' So there you go, don't think we'll lose any sleep on that one will we?!

Blast from the past time... Former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie, currently a free agent, is being linked with Aberdeen.

Darren Lewis at The Mirror has two supposed Villa targets being linked to Fulham. The press say Martin Jol will have a 25m budget and this report says he'll want both Spurs striker Robbie Keane and Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland.

So far we have:

Keane will probably want to stay in London so you would think Jol will get him. The one I do not like is 10m for Mc Geady, I hope this is a wind up. No way he he worth the smell of that amount, has been very poor for the oast while. Yes he was a talant some time back, however that was in the past. COTV
irish villa
I dont for one solitary New York minute irish villa believe that Martin O'Neill would dream of paying anywhere near 10m for Celtic's Aiden McGeady, so I think that you can sleep easy regarding that one. %m, 6m maybe, but I would think that that would be the limit, for a player who even the Celtic fans have very split opinions on. As for Robbie Keane, I'm not sure why you think he would prefer to remain in London, that even should Fulham make an approach for his services. Surely out of the two clubs we are a far more attractive proposition, and Keane has no particular ties to the London area does he? No, I think that its quite likely that he will end up here at Birmingham B6, whereas I doubt very much that that will be the case regarding Aiden McGeady.
glensider
I'm sure Keane would rather come to us. That said, if Jol puts in a bid whilst MON is still sat twiddling his thumbs he might just take the offer. I'm sure Spurs would be happier with that aswell.
