Petrov Looking Forward To England Qualifier

Petrov Looking Forward To England Qualifier

Captain Stiliyan Petrov is relishing the prospect of facing numerous team mates in the upcoming England v Bulgaria qualifier.

As Fabio Capello looks to a 'new guard' for England following the disappointing World Cup attempt, Petrov thinks that potentially the new team could have a very heavy Villa influence to it, and whilst that would be good for England, he doesn't believe it would be for his home country.

Speaking on the Official Site Petrov named Gabby, Ashley, and Downing as having a great chance for selection as Capello rings the changes.

'It's a game I am really looking forward to, I would think Fabio is going to make quite a few changes.'

Stan accepts it's going to be difficult for Bulgaria regardless of who is selected because so many in the England camp will be looking for a good performance and win to help erase the memories of South Africa.

'We are under no illusions about what a hard game it's going to be, I think there are going to be quite a few of our players in the England squad and that's good news for Villa and probably bad news for Bulgaria.'

There's a definite case for Villa to probably have 4 or 5 players in the overall squad. The core is there and it could even be more if Capello is really willing to give people a chance.

Would be interesting to see from purely a Villa perspective to be honest, the extra experience gained by the players would no doubt help us in our campaign but the worry would always be picking up injuries, which we have been quite lucky with over the last few seasons baring a few exceptions.

Well let's face it, our boys can't do any worse than the so called Stars can they!

can't wait for the season to start! Petrov should be concentrating on now, not then!!lol. I think he will have a great year. Don't agree with people who say he cant last 90mins. That was right at the end of a long and grueling season.

Petrov is quality but we did ask too much of players last season to play the volume of games that some of them did.
