Keano In? Sidwell & HokeyCokey Out? Transfer Talk

So The Mirror's reporter Darren Lewis says that Spurs are willing to let 30-year-old striker Robbie Keane move to Villa in order for him to get Craig Bellamy from Manchester City.

The report says that Keano is on the USA tour with Spurs (I'm seeing part of that in New York next week... along with Juan Pablo Angel's New York Red Bulls... interesting fact? No, ok, just a boast! LOL) and won't be allowed to go out on loan again next season. (He scored 16 goals in 19 games and was Celtic's player of the season through a loan last season).

The Mirror also say that Martin O'Neill will be for Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland.

The Mirror say Villa have slapped a ... and I quote whopping 4m price tag on Nigel Reo-Coker. Why is that whopping? He cost us over 7million and is only 26-years-old and is a useful player. Blackburn and Bolton are said to have been put off by the price? WHAT?

James Milner to Manchester City? Not heard that rumour before! ;o) The Telegraph say that Milner won't be drawn on the subject, Villa do still want to keep him and re-negotiate his contract but that Man City hope to compromise on price with a bid of around 25million.

Steve Sidwell has apparently agreed a 2m move to Fulham after they appointed Martin Jol (good manager that) as their new manager.

Like Keane but it's time for the Fonz.

if u asked me 2 years ago, i would of taken keane like a shot, but as a few of u have said he is past his sell by date, at 5 million he would be a good buy, anymore would be a distatser, cause u got to remeber keane has turned us donw a few times and i think its time we turn him down
snackiest
btw if you have forgotten we got of to a bad start last season but if we won them games, we would have come 4th and if we beat Blackburn at the end of the season we could have come 3rd. so stop commenting on vital VILLA page

Get Keane in, he'll add a lot of what we've been lacking up front. He's not the complete solution, but with money appearing to be in short supply unless we offload our shining lights, he might well have to be our only addition. A strike force consisting of Keane, Carew, Gabby and young Nathan will not be the answer to all of our problems, but its a start.

Yes Clarkamus, The Fonz won't go the way of the Moore Bros. Hopefully Keane can bring the youngsters on but knowing MON, the bloke will be playing 90 mins every week at the expense of other players experience. If we rotated Gabby/Keane/Fonz/Carew, that looks like a few Very interesting partnerships with good mixtures of pace, strength, guile, finishing etc. But sadly rotation is non existent at VP and we should get used to seeing Keane and Gabby every week with a Heskey cameo for the last 10 mins. Lilywhites, come back when you are knocked out of the Champs League or when your Prem form suffers because of it, or even when/if you ever sign one of these much talked about players because its only talk at the moment.

always liked keane but as with ginola all those years ago, spurs have had the best of him and are moving him on at the right time. we need a striker of course but the fonz is either good enough or he ain't and we need to give him more chances to show what he's about.
Mister Mick
Regardless of Reo-Coker's ability (and personally I'd have him as first choice central midfielder), we won't get 4m for him for four very good reasons. First, he fell out with the manager. Second, he's played very little football recently (and despite having suffered an injury he has been largely available). Third, he's in the last year of his contract. And fourth, he's not going to be getting a game this season. Other clubs tend to conduct their transfer dealings in a more enlightened manner than we do, and they will understand Reo-Coker's true market value, which is determined by many factors in addition to his ability as a footballer.

Lilywhites: Please don't come on here and start giving it the big one and calling us mugs. If you have something to say then conduct it in a structured adult fashion or don't bother as quite frankly, you don't deserve a response. As for Keane, there's nothing wrong with having a veteran in the squad with undoubted ability and lots of experience and skill-base to draw on for the likes of Gabby and Fonz. Good luck in the CL and return to this board when you are mature and maganamous.

Keane is well past his best, i hope he joins you purely because you are our rivals for 4th. I also heard Villa was his 5th boyhood club aswell? So should be a match made in heaven.
HuddersfieldYiddo
How about we give Reo Coker a new contact on a lower wage and give him bonuses on the % of successful passes lol, he is still for me the best tackler in the league, i remember when he played a full season he had like 92% successful tackles.
Villa 4 Ever
Villan44 - you may get a player that can't pass, tackle or shoort? Villa 4 Ever I don't believe that you are allowed to offer a player a contract at a lower rate than he is on with his existing contract.
Gordonsleftboot
V444: So true about Reo. He can't pass. Gardner you used to outskill him regularly and he's a blue nose now! OHara and Ireland are the way forward boys. OHara will cost a coll 10 million if you ask me.
