Nathan Delfouneso has followed the lead of Gabby Agbonlahor last summer, and used his time off wisely...to train.
We all saw the benefit of Gabby's off season work last pre season as he came back looking like a mini Hulk and not the skinny whippet we'd seen the season before, and although Delfouneso hasn't hit the weights in that fashion he was determined to come back as strong, and as fit as he possibly could to improve his chances of becoming a first team regular.
'I choose to make sure I was coming back to the club as fit as possible and make sure I was coming back stronger, fitter, quicker and technically better,' he said on the Official Site.
Delboy also took the opportunity to thank Martin O'Neill for releasing him for England's European Championship campaign even though it obviously takes him away from our pre season preparation.
'I left it down to the club and England to decide, I'm very proud to go and play for England but I'm also very proud putting on the shirt of the club I play for.'
It's going to be a big season for Delboy, he should star nicely at the Euro's and he's shown he's not scared of first team action for us, so it's about getting his head down and training hard and taking the opportunities as they come now and basically making it impossible for O'Neill to drop him.
He certainly has the potential, the battle as always will be in reaching it.
