Nathan Delfouneso is determined to help the England U-19's go one stage further in the European Championships after being losing finalists last year.
Speaking on the Official Site Delfouneso admitted he was both proud and disappointed at England's last European campaign, as he finished as the tournament's top scorer but England finished as runners up to the hosts Ukraine.
England find themselves in the final 8 of the competition to be held in France this year, and along with team mate Nathan Baker, Delboy is hoping to play a staring role in the squad again.
'I had experience of it last year, so I know what to expect and what's going to come so hopefully I can use that experience this year.'
Delboy also modestly says he thinks he has improved as a player since finishing as top scorer last time round, so that is an achievement he hopes to make in this years tournament.
'I like to think that I've improved as a player since last year so hopefully that will be seen in this tournament.'
His first team experience will certainly aide him in the competition, and although it would be fair to say he hasn't yet set Villa Park alight when given a chance, he hasn't looked overawed, nervous or afraid to take anybody on in the hope of creating something...and we've already seen he is more than capable of snatching a goal, so this is the perfect chance for Delboy to put his name further into the thoughts of Martin O'Neill for our coming league battles.
The squad met up last Monday and are preparing for their opener against Austria in Flers, they then take on France and Netherlands in Group A.
The semi's take place on July 27 and the final is being held in Caen on July 30.
Best of luck Nathan's, let's hope you return to our pre season full of beans and as European Champions!
