Gabby Determined To Achieve England Dream

Gabby Agbonlahor has said he is determined to force his way back into Fabio Capello's plans after missing out on the final 23 man squad for England's disastrous World Cup attempt.

We all heard Capello talk about how players would be picked on merit, on form, and on usefulness for the team then when push came to shove we saw the same overhyped, overpaid and non International performing 'names' selected even though they were about as useful as a loud, dripping wet fart in a job interview.

But Capello has 'vowed' to inject new blood into his failed England camp ahead of the European Championships and he has already mentioned Gabby's name as somebody who could have a big impact in the coming months.

Speaking on the Official Site Gabby admitted he was delighted to hear the England manager single him out as having a part to play, and he's determined to show his worth this season and find the consistency he has lacked for Villa over the past few seasons in the second half of our league campaigns.

'What I need to do now is show him I deserve it. I want to get off to a good start, have a good season and get back in the squad. I am determined to get back in.'

Gabby rightly isn't looking for excuses for his exclusion and whilst admitting it was disappointing he admits those who missed out 'need to take a look at yourself and question if you did enough to make it in.'

Gab doesn't think he did, and that is ultimately what he plans on rectifying this season.

'I have improved each season and I want to do the same again. I want to make it into double figures and push on with the goals. I'm heading in the right direction, now I just want to improve further.'

We all saw the work Gabby had put in last summer and he definitely benefited from that during the course of the season, his success as a lone striker proves that, if he can sort out his goal droughts around Christmas time he can make a genuine claim for England, he still has work to do but he's certainly getting there.
