On This Day 12/07 2005 - 2009 Villa News Archives
Well, it appears to be a quite news day so what was going on in this day in history?!
July 12 2005 we had a Villa Times published
Not for the want of looking, all is quiet on the Villa front at the moment. Could be good news, usually when it goes quiet things are actually happening.
Laursen has promised we will see more of him next season, although rather ominously also mentions that his knee is still sore. Lets hope the rumours that his career may be halted prematurely are proved unfounded. 'I'm in the gym every day undergoing a full weights programme indoors, and I'm also running once a day. The knee is sore sometimes, and I am not ready to train twice a day with the rest of the squad. But I am happy with how things are going and will soon be ready to step things up. The Villa fans will see the real me next season.'
Crouch is being linked to a £7million move to Liverpool but Southampton chairman Lowe has denied any approaches. and so much more! The Villa Times 12/07/05
Thought for the day: How do you tell when you're out of invisible ink? !
July 12 2006 a Villa Times imposter appeared, I must have been on holiday! Click Here
+ Peter Whittingham was being linked to Barnsley. The Vital Barnsley website has reported that their (Barnsley that is, not the vital site) bid for Peter Whittingham has been rejected, and it's believed that he will sign elsewhere this week. As we know, he went to Cardiff where he has since scored 32 goals: Whittingham Set To Leave
And some news that must have driven us mad with excitement, Jumper Jumper was due back in for training: Djemba-Djemba Returns?
July 12 2007... whatever happened to MozVillan. He was so funny!
I`m so bored, I`ve actually begun to weep tears of blood. The close season, as we know, is a marathon of tedium; a traffic-jam of anxiety. The rumours, the gossip, the wildly optimistic speculation - its all so addictive. Will we sign that European wonderkid, that proven Premiership goalscorer, that rectangular goalie? No. Man United will.
Those waiting for Villa to swap squads with Inter Milan may have to wait a little longer. Sure, you could distract yourself by attending hypocritically eco-unfriendly pop concerts or being kidnapped by Islamic fundamentalists whilst reporting for the BBC, but it`s much more fun to gaze blankly at a computer screen in the vain hope of a glimpse of our new Nike socks.
Villa transfer window bingo!
Ha, same as every transfer window, the natives were getting restless over transfers! Transfer Saga Or Lack Of Patience?
July 12 2008
Ah, busy day in 2008, we had the Barry saga supposedly taking a twist.... Well this is a turn up for the books, after what seems like months of wrangling between Aston Villa and Liverpool over Gareth Barry, Arsene Wenger has, according to Shaun Custis of The Sun, popped up with an enquiry! Full article: Arsenal Add Twist To The Barry Saga
Brad Guzan was incoming: USA Keeper Brad Guzan Fee Agreed
Wayne Routledge, who scored for Villa in their pre-season friendly against FC Wil 1900 the other night, says he is looking to make an impact this season at Villa Park in order to earn himself a new contract. Wayne Routledge On His Massive Season Ahead
Vital Villa asked who should be our next captain? 60% went for Danish defensive rock Martin Laursen (60%) Next up with 26% was former West Ham captain Nigel Hokey-Cokey Full results from back in the day: 60% Vote For Martin Laursen As Captain
And we had a full Villa Times as well, including Martin O'Neill says Villa's latest young striker hot off the presses at the academy, Nathan Delfouneso, can make the next step and have an impact on the Premiership. + Villa romped to a 6-0 win over Swiss side FC Wil 1900 and Martin O'Neill was delighted with the pre-season start. Our goals came with a brace from Marlon Harewood + contributions from John Carew, Nathan Delfouneso, Shaun Maloney and Wayne Routledge. : The Villa Times - 12/07/2008

This time last year we had a general England back the bid article with Oasis and Kasabian featuring! Click Here
A rumour that happily proved to be totally wrong: Here we go again...! The press seem to want to facilitate a transfer for Ashley Young ! The Daily Star have a report by Paul Hetherington claiming that Manchester United are set to offer £25million for the Villa and England winger. Some reports are claiming that Ash is Sir Alex Chewalot's number one summer target and lets face it, after the massive sale of Ronaldo they have the funds. But £25million? Ashley Young Linked To Man Utd & Spurs
Ha...! Would it be folly for Villa to try to do something audacious and try to grab England star David Beckham? Would it help put us on the map, get bums on seats, generate a bit of excitement and also help us help him in his bid to be fit and ready for the World Cup in 2010 which is bound to be his England swan-song? Would It Be Folly For Villa To Lure Beckham?
And some feedback on ticketing taken on board by Villa: Well this is a bit of positive news and good to see that the club continue to take feedback from the fans and act accordingly. Villa Do Listen And Take On Feedback!
And also the fourth part of our summer long transfer threads with loads of article comments to get stuck into!: Aston Villa Summer Transfer Thread Pt 4
And that was that. What will appear today? Only time will tell! lol
