Mega Deal For Villa + Scott Parker? Press Links

Not sure this is really new information but a report by Tim Gray in The Daily Star claims Martin O'Neill has accepted the fact that James Milner wants out and so will do a deal as long as it involves Manchester City players in exchange.

The report says both Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha + £15million in cold, hard cash will be the asking price.

Got to say, that looks like a good deal to me!

Sunderland are apparently also interested in Onuoha.

A report by Graham Hill in The Sun insists, despite West Ham saying he isn't for sale, that Villa will bid for midfielder Scott Parker once the money for Milner comes in.

Vital West Ham also mention the link: www.westham.vitalfootball.co.uk

Not convinced! Parker has played for Charlton Athletic, (Norwich City on loan), Chelsea, Newcastle United and moved to West Ham for the 2007-08 season.

Ireland, Parker, Robbie Keane, Onuoha... would start to be shaping up to be a decent summer of signings wouldn't it?

A year ago Ireland would have cost around 18m, offers for Onouha at the moment would be around 6m. Kind of values Milner at 39m!! Three times what we paid for him. Looking at it another way, if the 15m is spent on Keane (7.5m) and Eduardo (7.5m) that is a deal of Milner for Keane+Eduardo+Onouha+Ireland. That would be BARGAIN of the year and actually leave us with very little else to add to the squad!! Get rid of the 'deadwood', add a few million and try to get a decent defensive midfielder (we would need another with Ireland, Downing, Young and Keane in the team!!) - this management lark is easy!!

Not keen on Parker. Although experienced - he's got one maybe two years left in him. As for Ireland and the Lap of ..... id take them. and for 15m to that stupid Arab who's ruined football? Id say no chance. You can Have Milner for a cut price 15m plus those two or you can go and destroy another country and more lives like they did in Dubai!

Keane and Ireland, yes. Onouha I'm not so sure about...Parker I would seriously like here. Add to that Micah Richards. Don't think Carew has another full season left in him because of his back health and for that reason I don't want us left with just small strikers...come on, lets get Beattie for a couple of million or a punt on Kenwyne Jones as I totally believe that guy is miles better than Harewood and can be as good as Carew in the right team.

No No No to Ireland, yes he is a good player when he wants to be but looks like he lets the whole footballers life style distract him. To actually have an article on the home club website telling you all about his 'charity' work says it all

With you on Jones koolbill. I'm an atheist by the way, but if this deal comes off for Milner as described I think i'd have to convert to a belief in God, and also reckon he must wear claret & blue!

KP Boateng?? He's a good player. The trouble is he is not nearly such a good player as he thinks he is. Stay clear.

Think most City fans would jump at a 15m deal for Milner with Ireland going the other way. Ireland was a fanttastic player 2 seasons ago but looks to be in the same position as Dunne was, ie needs a move to reignite his career. If he does that at Villa, you'd be getting one hell of a player who is creative and can score quite a few goals to boot. Onuoha on the other hand is one that I think most City fans would be highly disappointed to leave. Not only is he a fan of our club, he's never let us down when called upon and deserves more of a chance. 15m + Milner for both players is way too much though!

Sky Sports - "City prepare 20m move for Drogba". 20m?! we could afford that if Milner leaves! Other strikers, Luis Suarez, Edin Dzeko, Falcao. Go for someone a little different, a proven goalscorer that isn't just a Premiership striker that's unwanted by a club, and a striker that we're only really buying because he's available and in our price range. Keane is okay, but Tottenham don't want him, and we're aiming to get where Tottenham are now. Liverpool got rid of him. I'm tired of buying players that are at lows in their careers in an attempt to rejuvinate them.

I know what you're saying Callum but Drogs would never look at us. We either need to do a Wenger and pluck a no-one or a cheeky free or take a chance on a traveller like Keane - who in my opinion is worth buying just for what he can teach Gabby about use of space and correct runs to maximising opportunities. Other than that it would be a serious risk to buy Rodallega - just look how dire Zaki is now and MoN bid 10m for him when he was on fire! Striker buys will make or break MoN but he ain't stupid - he knows we need one or maybe two to even try and compete. Midfielders should be one of his lesser worries; I just hope he switches Ash to behind the striker or permanently back to the right.

Yeah, I do know that the Drogba thing was a little hopeful, haha! I do know what you mean with Keane, i'm not saying he's a bad player or anything, out of any of the premiership strikers we've been linked with i'd definatley take him. But i'd atleast like to see that MON has considered buying abroad, there are deals to be had out there, but it seems Tottenham and Man City get there first. Players like Mbark Boussoufa I think would improve our team, despite the fact he's been player of the season 2 years running right now we could probably have a reasonably priced bid (8million ish?) accepted before any other premiership teams get a sniff. It's no good waiting until the final day and picking up what the other teams have left.

That's so correct. I hope MoN gets his arse into gear EARLY. Boussoufa sounds like a good investments but so do the Tongolese Zidane and he's turned out to be a good bench warmer...i hope this hasn't dented MoNs foreign buying confidence as Mbark sounds like a player. Callum, are you onboard with Keny Jones or would you rather we spent a bit more on Bent who is slightly older? I prefer Jones as he is more like a Carew and has more skill than people give him credit for and he's young. I can't think of any other EPL strikers.

Santa crock Cruz? Sturridge? Bellend? Fatboy Yakubu? There just isn't a alot of quality, either too young, too injured or too angry (bellamy). Or too fat. Maybe we just need MoN to take a risk but with the purse strings tighter than ever I can't see it happening.
