'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Former Villa Boss Says Goodubai to the UK

Yay! My friend and your friend David O`Leary has found a new job after many eons of waiting for that right opportunity, as he takes the reigns of Dubai based side Al Ahli.

O`leary is well known obviously to Villa fans, as someone who is a relatively poor yardstick from which Martin O`Neill has been escalated onto a pedestal upon high, he is also a man who has seemingly spent the last 4 years playing golf, with the occasional Sky Sports appearance thrown in.

With the managerial merry-go-round that is English football these days, it seems strange that the "right opportunity" hasn`t come about. This is after all a nation that allows perennial failures Ian Dowie and Brian Laws into it`s top division! How Dolly, and his famous 4-3-3 (read: 4-5-1) formation didn`t find themselves a new home will baffle many a football, and indeed life expert.

O`Leary has to be remembered for his free spending at Leeds, and indeed Villa, bringing in such powerhouse footballing names as Eric Djemba-Djemba, Carlton Cole (loan), not to mention the fantastic Vlacacav Drobny! With respect to the Irishman however, he was the manager who brought in Wilfred Bouma and the legend that should have been even greater, Martin Laursen.

O`Leary heads out to Dubai to take over an Al Ahli side that hosts World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro as its captain. You may remember him from such incidents as..the Zidane headbutt! Al Ahli, according to Wikipedia are mostly full of players from the UAE, however do hold within their ranks the brilliantly named Brazilian forward "Bare."

All the best Dolly, you`ve clearly set yourself up for life!

Am sure it was Marco Matterazzi in the Zidane incident...
AMS78
Think you're right AMS78. Cannavaro is famous for failing a drugs test with the excuse that he was "stung by a wasp" and had an allergice reaction to the medication.....riiiiiiiight....!

Never won the employee of the month award did he? Oh yeah he finished 6th once.....

Interesting he's never got back into PL job isn't it? Says a lot about the guy as he wasn't a 'bad' manager play wise. Don't think he can be blamed for some of the signings, there wasn't any money about at that time but he can be blamed for the way he was (being so careful here!) People do forget first season with very little money he had us playing decent enough footie and we finished 6th, it was just the other side of him which grated, not a nice fella at all.
The Fear
Does that mean Villa have stopped paying him finally ?
Mat777
Roy Aitken has joined him.
