Milner Out - Ireland In? Press Transfer Talk

The News of the World say that Steve Sidwell might have changed his mind on going to Fulham following the departure of boss Roy Hodgson and might now be on his way to West Ham to join up with his former Chelsea boss Avram Grant. The word 'bovvered' springs to mind! Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers are also said to be interested

Talking about Roy Hodgson, a report in The Daily Mail says that the new Liverpool boss wants Ashley Young. Hodgson is keen to get more English players into the side and will apparently sound out Villa this week. NO CHANCE...!

The Mirror claim that Man City will follow through with a new bid for James Milner this week. They reckon the club will come in with a £25m offer.

Another report says that Stephen Ireland will be on his way out with Everton, Villa and Spurs all keen. The report suggests that Ireland might be used as part of the Milner deal.
However another report, this time in The Mirror, says that Manchester United will nip in for Ireland. The player that is, not the country you understand, then again, I guess they carry a similar debt?! Oh and just to complete the Stephen Ireland news today....!.... The News Of The World claim he'll be part of a package along with Nedum Onuoha (linked to a £5million move to Villa earlier this summer) and Michael Johnson to get Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta.

Meanwhile the Express & Star have quotes from Big Ron saying Villa need a goalpoacher in the style of Kevin Phillips (who we bought a season or two too late and sold a season or two too soon!) Darren Bent was the one surely? DOH!

And an article by Matt Kendrick: Aston Villa and England old boy Steve Hodge fears that James Milner`s head might have been turned by Gareth Barry on World Cup duty.... at the Sunday Mercury: Click Here Must admit my info is he had his head turned long before the World Cup, hope that info proves to be wrong but money talks... and off we go again into Neil Diamond territory!

Vital Boro report that Rangers striker Kris Boyd is reported to have agreed terms with Middlesbrough and will sign for them within the next twenty-four hours. Bit surprised a Premiership team, including us, didn't look at this one as he is available on a free and has a proven goalscoring record, albeit in the SPL. Be an interesting one to watch to see how he fairs!

£15m + Ireland and Onuaha for Milner. Spend the £15m on a striker (plus another £10m for Petrov cover) and were done for the summer
