Not exactly a stunning day for transfer talk relating to Villa but I'm sure it will hot up as the World Cup is over for England and the press will have to find something to talk about! We should also start to see some serious moves in the transfer window as players contracts run to the end of June, holidays will be coming to an end clubs + players will be looking at their futures.
Sky Sports have Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies confirming that he would like to sign Nicky Shorey on a permanent deal having had him on loan towards the end of last season.
The Forest boss told the Nottingham Post: 'It would be a no brainer for us to look at Nicky if he was available. If he is somebody we could possibly sign, then we have to look at it. He is a player with obvious quality and there is no question he could do a job for us while he was here. He would be a good addition if it could be done.' So all down to the price then I assume!?

Some whispers doing the rounds in text yesterday had a story that Sir Alex Ferguson had told someone at a Golf Day at the Belfry that the Milner to Man City deal was done at £28million. Certainly can't vouch for that one but seems to be a given in some circles that the deal will be done. Goes against another comment I heard though which reckoned City had turned their attention elsewhere and that Man Utd were going to come in for Milner. Hey ho.
And whilst on the subject of Robbie Keane, ahem, not exactly a seemless link that was it... I can but try...! Matt Kendrick at The Birmingham Mail says that Robbie Keane would jump at the chance of joining Villa if the chance arises. Certainly fits in with all I've been told, even at the end of last season, that the Spurs man would move to Villa and actually would have looked to make the move in January if Spurs had been willing to sell him to us at that time. They were wise in not selling him at that point then, I think that move would have seen us finish 4th and not them.
Birmingham City and Sunderland have also been linked but the 30-year-old (well, he is next week anyway) would like a Villa move if a deal can be done. Due to his age Villa won't be held over a barrel price wise though. Wonder if the Curtis Davis to Spurs links return, if so surely a swap would be on the cards (you see, I could do all this transfer dealing if only blinking Villa would listen to me..... ok, ok, I concede, better they don't, I was after all on about getting Michael Owen... hey, then again, if we had got him, he'd not have scored against us at Wembley... bloody hell, I AM good at this...!)
