That's right, Harry 'the Happy' Redknapp is already picking his squad for the European Championship's despite the fact Fabio is still in the hotseat.
I'm not sure where the original quotes come from but the Express and Star have him quoted today as saying it's time for a new breed of England player and it has to be based on youth and hunger...effectively all those who got close but didn't make the final 30 under Fabio.
So roll up James Milner, Gabby Agbonlahor and Ashley Young.
'James is one of the young players who were a success, so deserves a regular starting place to see if he can produce that form on a consistent basis.'
Very few would disagree, well some would. Even this very site seems split on the performances of our Millyman in the World Cup, so probably safer if I just agree with the 'Coat Fiddler'(will only make sense if you saw Redknapp Jnr on A League of their Own).
But he goes further...
'Maybe now it's time to give Gabby an extended run for England, along with City's Adam Johnson and Ashley Young, also of Villa.'
I might be more philosophical than most when it comes to England cause quite frankly I'd be perfectly happy to see International football banned and let the players focus on their proper day jobs.
But the simple point is our so called World Class players consistently flop on the International stage, it's clear the only spirit within the camp is the one they use to drown their sorrows so why not for once actually try and select a team full of players who will at the very least try.
It couldn't be any worse or seriously any more mind numbing than watching the current bunch of incompetents could it.
