Carew Contract Talks

A source close to John Carew has indicated that he will hopefully meet with Martin O'Neill in the next few weeks to clarify his future.

The Hulk has only one year left on his current contract, and like all players at the club, future contract negotiations were put on hold until the summer. If a new contract cannot be agreed it's more likely Carew would leave on a free in 12 months as it's unlikely we could demand much of a fee for him, and of course any potential sale 'should' be tied to a replacement coming in first as we are already woefully thin upfront.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail the quoted, but unnamed source said that there has been regular contact with Monny and that they were hopeful a meeting could be arranged in the next few weeks.

'John has stated all along how much he enjoys it at Villa and loves the club so we will have to see what happens.'

For a change, from the Forum Thread it appears most agree that given his goal tally since joining us there's no way we can let him go, especially as there is uncertainty about whether we are going to sign a striker who could provide adequate competition, let alone adding another to replace him.

So go on, register and speak your mind...and while you are at it vote in the new frontpage poll.

Its OK Villa fans us City boys do not want Carew or Heskey from you.

200million and u get what? I think Carew has the ability to be our 20goal a season striker, he really needs to stay fit this season. He will give us such a boost. We must keep him. Him and Gabby upfront, both on form would be brilliant!

More importantly he needs to keep MON happy and get on the pitch!!
AVFC4ME
we must keep carew as a super sub, and get another striker (which is obvious) to sit pretty with agbon

Yep, keep Carew - we need to think back to 2007/2008 season - we bagged a hatful of goals with Gabby / Carew up front. Heskeys arrival has meant goals have dried up!
