Both Emile Heskey and James Milner have spoken following the 'insert your own adjective' match against Germany yesterday.
As the plethora of excuses are wheeled out to explain the diabolical tournament we all suffered, both players, Emile especially, distanced themselves from the 'French response'.
Speaking on the Official Site Heskey categorically denied that the number of games played in the English domestic season had anything to do with our poor performance.
'We have to look at certain stuff, but you can't blame the season in England for what happened.'
Hesk points out that the Germans themselves had a long season yet they were fine.
'We are disappointed to go out before the quarter finals but we have got to go back and re-evaluate things.'
Milner is slightly more critical but looks to the future in his comments.
'We came here with high expectations. We have not performed like we can, but you have to look forward and we move on.'
England shall move on, the press will go wild for a bit, Capello's future will be determined over the next weeks, some heads will roll and as we gear up for the European Championships the overhyped will return, we'll suffer from not blooding youngsters properly and the same thing will happen as it does every major tournament.
But at least for the next few years we can get back to the important stuff...all things Villa.
