Villa v Germany

Another England game sees another outstanding performance by James Milner.

Milly was involved in the majority of England's attacks and whipped in plenty of crosses that on another day could've seen Defoe grab himself a hattrick.

But luck obviously wasn't with them today given Lampard's disallowed goal.

Then again as expected our big name, World Class superflops, sorry stars, weren't really with the team either.

Rooney displayed all the talent of a cabbage, I've seen better control and movement from schoolboys, yet Fabio couldn't possibly sub him.

Lampard hit the bar and scored, those will remain the only two useful things he has done this World Cup, yet Fabio couldn't possibly sub him.

Gerrard, well like at Liverpool he's greedy, he wants to be the star and so shoots uselessly when it would take an act of God to go in, thoroughly ignoring the simple through ball or square ball that could result in a goal, yet Fabio couldn't possibly sub him.

No he subs the man who was England's most consistent and best performer on the pitch today, the one player who looked dangerous and was both being unselfish in positioning but also more than prepared to move into the middle to try and make something happen.

Yes Milner goes off whilst the useless, overpaid, overhyped, self believing World Class favourites remain on the pitch.

Fabio was duly rewarded....Germany scored again. 3-1.

Then showing all the tactical knowledge of spaghetti, what with us being two goals behind, having 3 non entities on the pitch, and a defence that was more leaky than Mr Leek, of Leek Street, Leak Town, he motions for the goal machine that is Emile of the Heskey to save our World Cup Dream.

Fabio was duly rewarded....Germany scored again. 4-1.

Our defence remained unplugged, our formation remains the same but now we have two central midfielders playing on both wings, and two strikers, one who never scores, and another whose performances this World Cup should seriously question his selection in the future.

There's still 12 minutes left, will Germany make it 5 because we haven't a hope in hell of getting a second.

Fabio your failure to live up to your own hype, as your own man and not cow down to the so called superstars has been given the result your behaviour deserved.

At least Emile will give his all now he's on the pitch. But he's a shoe in to be the scapegoat of this tournament. Maybe the press will turn on Johnson, Defoe, would they be stupid enough to blame Milner?

It'll be somebody though, because it can't possibly be the players who have consistently let us down. Shame they didn't get themselves stupidly sent off or miss a penalty...maybe then the press would've focused on the real culprits.

England have lived up to expectations once again. Thank God I can ignore them for a couple of years again.

PMSL you call Heskey invisible and suggest Lennon should've been brought on.

I like Milner but he didn't have a good game today - none of them did.

I know that I might be in in the minority but thank goodness it has all come to an end. I only support one football team so maybe now we can all get back to what really matters to me - Aston Villa.

Thought Milner was poor, constantly over hitting crosses, however he was far from alone

Agreed 100%, pongo wearing!!! Villa are the only team that truly means anything. As for 'Ingerland', 'Golden Generation', lol. Bobby Moore, Gordon banks and Bobby Charlton excepted, the class of 1990 were arguably better than the 66' boys. England have always been mediocre to average (66 and 90 not included). Roonaldo (two world cups=0 goals). Klose, three world cups=12 goals (Pele scored 12 in 4 tournaments).

Sorry, I'm a Villa fan, but Milner was made to look slow by Boeteng today, and did very little to warrant a 30 million price tag. Having said that, none of the England team are World Class in my view. Rooney and co have been shown up for what they are.

Agree Bernio, Johnson was absolutely clueless. Worst player so far. Next poll, worst match official. Then candidates for worst FIFA president. Bring on next season. I'd take 25 mil for milner straight away.

May I be as bold as to say that I thought one player played pretty well? Despite a non-existent defence, and a non-supporting midfield, DAVID JAMES somehow managed to keep the goal tally down to four! I don't think he stood a chance with any of the goals, and I think he pulled off some cracking saves to prevent even more embarassment. I think FABIO could have learnt a few things from watching Villa over the last couple of seasons - perhaps he should have popped down a bit more often. Firstly, BARRY is slow and fat. Secondly, playing players out of position (e.g. GERRARD) rarely works well. Thirdly, MILNER has been turned from a bright prospect to a shining star by moving him to centre midfield - why not play him in the position that attracted FABIO to pick him?? and finally, bringing on HESKEY in the 70th minute really has much the same effect as gunning down one of your most likely players to score on the pitch!!

Even through the pain of defeat Redknob did make me laugh when Gabby yorath asked him about the game he said "England need a goal and you take Defoe off and put Heskey on" You could almost hear him sad "For F*cks sake" under his breath, he of course had a good point.

Barry looked kind of fat. really, his ass is fat and his pace showed it. Milner did not stand out. apart from a couple of good crosses i thought he looked like the rest of the team - lost. But thats what good teams make other teams look - lost.....

Anyone else starting to see just how good Stan Petrov is?? First Barry and now Milner have become great players at Villa playing in front of him while he does there donkey work. Go to another team, be it England or Man City and all of a sudden they don't quite look so great??

Beckham is being linked to the England coaches job. If comfirmed then it's utter desperation on the FA's part. Then again, if Maradona can do a good job, maybe Becks can??? I'm sure he'd have the bottle to drop Rooney, Heskey, lampard etc. He also genuingly seems to connect to England on an emotional level. A winter break for the players is still badly needed though.

maybe not Andy :) I just think people forget sometimes that Barry just used to be able to play where he wanted with Stan behind him, very similar to milner. Petrov very rarely gives it away and never seems to get caught out of position which gives the other midfielders the confidence and freedom to attack - the kind of player England lack, Barry has alway been better as a forward playing midfielder
