I'll be glad when this World Cup is over so we can get back to the real business of football and Aston Villa... COME ON ENGLAND by the way.. I do mean when it is over and we've won! Ahem!
Anyway, only rumour today is a re-hash.
The Mirror says that James Milner will 'stun' Aston Villa by handing in a transfer request.
Why would that stun anyone? They have met and talked with the player and his agent, I'm sure they know what is on his mind more than the press and we do? If he does ask to leave I can't see it being a major shock now can you?
The report says that Milner has spoken with England team mates saying he can't turn down the sort of wages on offer at Man City.
Obscene really... should be a wage cap but there never will be.
This does, sadly, fit in with my 'itk' stuff that he's been fairly well (or badly) tapped up and heads have been turned by the cash being talked about.
Loyalty? In football? Not sure it exists. If Milner stays at the Club that have made him an England international maybe it will show that it does. If not, money talks (but it don't sing and dance and it don't walk and if you'll pardon me I'd like to... ok, sorry, I'll stop. Bit of Neil Diamond for the oldies there!)
Apparently Chelsea won't shift above £20million so they are out. This report says City will pay £30m if that is what it takes. Sadly, once again, that fits in with some end of last season 'itk' stuff I was told that mad money wouldn't put them off.
Lets get this sorted, one way or the other, nice and quickly, if any player wants out then they are best allowed to leave - if the dosh we get suits us, if not sod them obviously, Villa have already showed they will play hard ball over the price after the Gareth Barry saga last summer.
What a shame this obscene money is in the game now, it will be the ruination in my opinion.
If all else fails, at least we still have Neil:
