Transfer Talk Surrounding AVFC Today

This really is a painful part of the close season, we want to bring you all the latest news and views but there isn't much about!!!!

The News of the World say that Fulham are close to sealing the move for midfielder Steve Sidwell despite uncertainty over the future of manager Roy Hodgson. They say the deal will be for around £3million.

The Daily Mail say that Villa are ahead in the queue for released from Manchester City midfielder Martin Petrov and the fact we have Stiliyan Petrov here to persuade him should work in our favour. The Express & Star say we'll lose out to Bolton. The report claims the Bulgarian has had a medical at the Reebok Stadium. Hey ho either way really!?

The People report that Newcastle United want to take 25-year-old defender Curtis Davies on-loan. Davies has been linked to the Toon before (Curtis Davies to Newcastle United. Click Here), along with:

Curtis Davies to Spurs for £7m Click Here

The report says Villa would rather a permanent sale as he isn't close to first team action for Villa after falling behind Collins, Dunne and Cuellar in the pecking order.

tend to agree Andy, we need extra players for Europe and Cup runs (hopefully) + Dunne isn't getting any younger, hopefully he doesn't pick up many/any injuries but... And Collins has had a few injuries so there should be hope for him. Just not sure he sounds like he has much in the way of patience after not forcing his way back into the team last season once fit. Then again, he'd not be first choice for Spurs either I'd not think?
